The Unlim Social Network tariff from Kyivstar was released in early October 2021. The company decided to edit several popular packages of offers at once. In addition to innovations, the brand has edited its pricing policy towards higher prices. Users didn’t like this right away.
Tariff "Unlim Talks"
“Unlim Talks” from the Kyivstar company is a tariff with a wide range of possibilities for those who are used to a lot of active communication on the phone. During development, emphasis was placed on the subscriber's voice communication, since calls within the network are completely unlimited, and the price of a minute of communication with clients of other mobile operators will be only 0.6 UAH. Let's consider the conditions in more detail:
- incoming and outgoing calls within the network are absolutely free;
- the package includes 500 MB of high-speed Internet;
- in training and educational applications (including Prometheus, Wikipedia, MyBook) Internet traffic is not charged;
- free use of the specialized VEON application.
This range of services is provided for a single subscription fee – 45 UAH. If you exhaust 500 MB of Internet, you have the opportunity to purchase additional packages - up to 5 pieces per day. Thus, the cost of one package of 50 MB will cost 5 UAH. If the offered packages are used up by the end of the day, you will still have access to the mobile Internet, but the speed will drop significantly - to 128 kb/sec. However, these values will be quite sufficient for checking mail and news sites.
Weekly pricing and price increase by 25 - 75 UAH. Kyivstar introduced new tariffs
From Tuesday, October 1, the tariffs are changing. Now, for the same money that subscribers paid previously, they will receive fewer minutes and megabytes of Internet. UBR writes about this.
In total, the new offers include five tariffs; subscribers must pay from 75 to 300 hryvnia. Moreover, only the cheapest tariff is designed for exactly a month, the rest are valid for 4 weeks. In case of timely payment, the subscriber is offered bonuses - megabytes of Internet and minutes. However, they can be used within 4 weeks from the date of payment, and they arrive in your account within 24 hours. Thus, you won’t be able to use them outside of your tariff plan. Meanwhile, services used beyond the package will cost the operator’s customers quite a lot. For example, 100 MB of Internet will cost 10 UAH.
New tariffs from Kyivstar:
1. Kyivstar Comfort – 75 UAH/month (100 MB, 30 minutes to other people’s mobile and landline).
Previously, for the same money, the company gave 20 times more traffic (2000 MB), and the 30 minutes included in the package could also be spent on calls abroad.
2. Communication without borders – 125 UAH/4 weeks (3000 MB, 30 minutes to other numbers and abroad).
There is no complete analogue of the package in the operator’s old tariff schedule. However, earlier for 100 UAH/4 weeks. It was possible to get 4000 MB and 60 minutes of communication with subscribers of other operators.
If you pay for the service on time, Kyivstar promises to charge the subscriber an additional 3000 MB and half an hour of calls. That is, the total volume of services can be doubled from the basic one: up to 6000 MB and 60 minutes of calls. It is important to make a reservation here - there was an error on the main page of the site: 6000 MB are indicated as a bonus. In the detailed terms of the tariff, additional traffic is 3000 MB.
3. Entertainment without borders – 175 UAH/4 weeks (6000 MB and 60 minutes of calls). The tariff also includes unlimited access to social networks and a number of music services, including Youtube Music.
There is also no exact analogue in the old tariffs. However, for 150 UAH/4 weeks. Previously, Kyivstar gave 9,000 MB and 150 minutes for calls to subscribers of other operators and abroad.
This package also has a bonus system that allows you to double your megabytes and minutes to 12,000 MB and 120 minutes, respectively.
4. Video without borders – 225 UAH/4 weeks. (9000 MB, 90 minutes and 90 SMS). Plus unlimited on social networks and video hosting. The operator promises that it will not charge traffic from either Youtube or Netflix. As well as a number of other services.
Previously, the subscriber received a similar amount of data for 150 UAH/4 weeks. True, non-tariffed social networks and video hosting were not provided for. As a bonus for timely payment, the operator offers unlimited Internet, an additional 90 SMS and 30 minutes to other people’s numbers.
5. Maximum Unlim – 300 UAH/4 weeks. (unlimited Internet, 300 minutes to local numbers and abroad, 300 SMS).
Previously, a similar package cost 225 UAH/4 weeks. Moreover, it also included home Internet. The new tariff does not have such an option. By the way, there are no other bonuses in it.
As for the old tariffs, they will remain valid for some time for those who were connected to them before October 1. How long this will last is not known.
Let us remind you that in the summer mobile operators announced that they were ready to abandon the 4-week tariffication.

Tariff “Unlim Social Networks”
According to the terms of the “Unlim Social Networks” tariff from Kyivstar, the monthly payment will be 65 UAH. Thus, it is 20 hryvnia more expensive than the previous option we considered. However, in both cases, the subscriber will receive guaranteed unlimited communication on the Kyivstar internal network. This package is intended for those who cannot live without social networks and the Internet in general. After the ban on several social networks, only Facebook and Twitter are available to Ukrainian users, and here they are also free. Otherwise, the tariff conditions are as follows:
- 3 GB mobile internet;
- unlimited calls within Kyivstar;
- 50 minutes for conversations with users of other operators;
- free VEON mobile application;
- unlimited access to global social networks – Facebook and Twitter;
- educational portals within the “Knowledge without Borders” option are not charged;
- after 50 minutes are exhausted, the cost of calls is 0.6 UAH.
- 100 SMS included.
Otherwise, the conditions are the same as in the “Unlim Talks” tariff - so, the user can at any time receive additional Internet packages of 50 MB each.
How to start using the new product
There are several ways to start using the new tariff from Kyivstar. If you have not previously been a subscriber to a mobile operator, then the easiest way to join is to purchase a starter package. It can be purchased both in the official Kyivstar store and in one of the licensed sales points. You don’t have to go far; starter packs are sold even in large grocery supermarkets. Having purchased a product with the Unlim Social Network tariff, you must activate it; to do this, follow the instructions on the packaging, or entrust this procedure to an employee of the mobile operator if you purchased the product in the Kyivstar store. It installs a package of services on your smartphone in the best possible way. However, you can activate a package with a different tariff plan, and then switch to Unlim Social Networks.
Additional terms
As mentioned earlier, all subscribers who connect to one of the proposed tariff plans get access to the VEON application. This is a convenient Internet messenger, the use of which will be completely free. However, only text content is not charged. Images and videos you submit will be charged based on your base plan.
If the SMS package from Kyivstar is not enough for you, for 1 UAH. You can always buy 10 additional SMS messages.
This will help out in situations where there are interruptions in the Internet, the traffic is exhausted or the wireless Wi-Fi does not pick up. A maximum user can purchase up to 90 such message packages.
Calls to other networks are charged at a standard price of 0.6 UAH. (if a mobile phone is used), the cost of a call to landline numbers increases and is already 1.50 UAH. in a minute. One MMS message will cost the user exactly 1 UAH.
Prices of the new tariff plan
As we have already said, Unlimited Conversations will liquidate the mobile brand, and Unlimited Social Networks will take its place. What does a subscriber receive in the updated tariff plan? The pricing policy immediately catches your eye. It has already somewhat outraged experienced users.
Now the subscription fee for the most inexpensive TP is 75 hryvnia per four months. All calls within the mobile network are free. On board there are 2 gigabytes of high-speed Internet and another bonus gig if the consumer pays the subscription fee on time. The operator also gives 30 minutes for calls to other Ukrainian networks, as well as numbers in Russia, Poland and Italy. It is curious that the proposal provides for turning off the Internet; when it is deactivated, the subscription fee is reduced to 65 hryvnia.
How to connect to the “Unlim Talks” and “Unlim Social Networks” tariffs
There are several convenient ways to join the Kyivstar company:
- If you definitely decide to become a client of the Kyivstar operator, buy a starter set of services (SIM card) with the established tariff plan (the cost will be 45 UAH for “Unlim Conversations” and 65 UAH for “Unlim Social Networks”). Next, all you have to do is activate the purchased package by following the instructions. The starting package of services can be absolutely anything - having become a Kyivstar subscriber, you have the right at any time to change the tariff plan to any other one that is more profitable specifically for you.
- If you are an existing subscriber of the company and want to change the tariff conditions, install the “My Kyivstar” mobile application (works on Android and iOS devices).
- You can call 477*1 and, following the voice prompts, change the tariff.
Kyivstar and its new tariff: what the subscriber gets
Available for connection
The offer known to all users of Kievstar prepaid communications called Unlim-Conversations has received a new name.
Now this tariff plan is called the same, but at the end the year of its launch is added - 2021. This will make the tariff easier to identify. Thus, the names of previous products in this series will be changed automatically. However, the company asks you to pay attention that if you purchased a starter package before the launch of the TP, but activated it after, you will have the prices and set of services in the new edition. At the same time, the mobile corporation will transfer starter packs with Unlim-Conversations 2021 to Unlimited Messengers. At the same time, the “conversational unlimited” itself is being eliminated and its place is being replaced by the new Unlim Social Network. In the line of four proposals, this is the most budget product.
Tariff principles
The real mobile boom began in our country in the late 90s of the 20th century. The start was two innovations. Firstly, the widespread introduction of Sim technology. This made it possible to abandon “fixed” devices, forever tied by a contract to a specific operator. Secondly, a system for making payments through replenishment cards. It is now difficult to imagine that once upon a time, in order to “put” money on a mobile phone, you had to visit the provider’s office or payment institution.
The new system made it possible to top up almost every day - there was no longer a need to deposit money at once over a long period. “Affordable mobile communications without contracts or subscription fees” was the motto of mobile providers in the early 2000s.
Now, if you contact your operator with a question about tariffs without a monthly fee, the answer will be clear - they don’t exist.
Currently, two types of connections are available to users – prepayment and contract.
Without going into details of the differences, we will highlight the main principle. The subscriber pays a certain amount monthly and receives a package of services for this. Exactly what amount and what services depends on the specific tariff plan. The subscription fee for a prepaid connection ranges from 75 UAH. (“Unlim social networks”) up to 225 UAH. (“Maximum unlimited”).
The contract will cost the client from 150 (“4G”) to 1000 (“4G Business VIP”) hryvnia per month.
But what to do if you use communications from time to time and are not ready to pay for a month? Or do you just want to save money? Previously, the issue of saving was solved by connecting an inexpensive tariff without mobile Internet and various additional options. These included, for example, “Conversations”, “Conversations+”, “Classic” and the like. But here's the problem: connection to these plans is closed, and their service will stop in the near future.
Kyivstar tariffs - everything you need to know so as not to overpay
Everything is becoming more expensive, including mobile communications. Sometimes, changes in the terms of service become an unpleasant surprise for subscribers. After all, most often they change upward. Most Melitopol residents use the services of Kyivstar. We are sure that during our cooperation with the company, citizens have had the opportunity to switch from tariff to tariff. Some offered more acceptable conditions, others simply closed over time. 2021 is no exception - RIA Melitopol found out what changes should be expected from Kyivstar.
From January 15 to March 5, some outdated prepaid tariff plans will cease to operate, and subscribers will be asked to choose one of the current tariffs.
What tariffs will you have to say goodbye to?
Kyivstar promises that as part of these changes, it will offer subscribers new tariffs with a lower cost. For example, for some Kyivstar subscribers with the “Unlim Social Networks 2018” tariff, which currently costs 75 UAH for four weeks of communication, a tariff 25 UAH cheaper will be offered. And for those subscribers who actively use the mobile Internet, the operator will offer tariff plans with a large number of megabytes.
Also, from February 1 of the year, the “Home Internet” and “All Together” tariffs will cease to operate. The company emphasizes that this will affect only 2% of subscribers and they will also be offered more favorable tariffs.
6 times more megabytes for the same money
From January 15, Kyivstar will increase the volume of services in the “Kyivstar Calls 2019” without changing its cost. Subscribers who use this tariff will receive 6 times more megabytes of mobile Internet: 3000 MB instead of 500 MB.
If you do not find yours in the list of current tariffs, we advise you to check its relevance. However, Kyivstar promises that subscribers will be informed about the disconnection of tariffs by SMS message a week in advance. Each user will be offered a new tariff plan. But, if he is not satisfied, the subscriber can choose the current tariff independently at any time.
It is worth noting that some tariffs will cease to be valid, others are closed for connection, but are relevant (for example, “Unlim Messengers”), and some, such as “Unlimited Video” for 150 UAH, can only be connected under an individual offer.

How much does it cost in Kyivstar?
According to information on the official Kyivstar website, the most affordable tariff for prepaid subscribers costs 75 UAH for 4 weeks. We are talking about the “Comfortable” , under its terms subscribers are provided with complete unlimited internet access, 30 minutes to other mobile and landline numbers, but only 100 megabytes of mobile Internet.
For mobile Internet users, the most affordable tariff is “Communication Without Borders”: 3 thousand megabytes, unlimited communication on the network and 30 minutes of calls to other mobile operators and abroad. For this you will have to pay 125 UAH for four weeks. There are also tariffs for 175, 225 and 300 UAH for 4 weeks. Their functionality is correspondingly greater.
For contract subscribers, the cheapest tariff at the moment is “Kyivstar Family” . It costs 100 UAH and includes 6 thousand megabytes of mobile Internet, unlimited internet and 60 minutes to other mobile numbers, landline numbers and abroad, as well as 60 SMS messages. Twice as many services and home Internet can be obtained in the “ Smart ” . Its cost is 150 UAH. There are also tariffs with even more functionality and complete unlimited not only calls within the network, but also mobile Internet for 225 and 300 UAH per month.
It is important to note that prepaid subscribers pay for 4 weeks of services, and contract subscribers pay for a month.
Let us remind you that the promotion “Communication up to 2 months as a gift” for prepaid subscribers and contract subscribers continues in Kyivstar. Under the terms of the promotion, subscribers can switch to any tariff plan whose name contains the phrase “without borders,” “unlimited,” or “Smart.” Connection cost is 1 hryvnia.
True, only those who have been Kyivstar subscribers for at least 90 days and have had at least one charge for services can take part in the promotion. You can take part in the promotion until January 14 inclusive by filling out an application on the official Kyivstar website in the appropriate section of the voice menu 477 or in the “My Kyivstar” self-service system.
Kyivstar told how to choose the most favorable tariff
From the first days of the new year, many Melitopol subscribers of Kyivstar received an SMS notification that their tariff plans were changing to more expensive ones. Understanding the variety of tariffs, and the company has more than 200 of them, is not always easy on your own. Experience shows that in such situations, in order to re-activate, you need to top up your mobile phone account. Why?
Kyivstar emphasizes that in current tariffs the company offers access to more than 20 applications (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, instant messengers, etc.) without mobile Internet tariffs.
To use these services without tariffication, that is, without debiting megabytes, you just need to have the remaining megabytes within your tariff, and also pay a subscription fee for the service package. First of all, you need to answer the question: why do you need a mobile phone. If you make calls more often, talk with your loved ones, friends, work colleagues within the Kyivstar network, the “Unlim Social Networks” . Kyivstar considers non-tariffed traffic of social networks
The subscriber discovered that his operator was counting social network traffic that he should not count. And he tried to prove that Kyivstar was wrong.

As is known, at the beginning of 2015, an auction was held in Ukraine among mobile operators for the right to own licenses for UMTS/WCDMA 2100. After paying for the won licenses, the companies, one after another, began launching UMTS/WCDMA 2100 networks in different parts of the country, simultaneously launching new ones tariffs and abolishing old ones.
I had been waiting for this moment for quite a long time, because since 2007 I had been using the services of the only UMTS/WCDMA operator in Ukraine, whose network quality left much to be desired.
And on June 16, 2015, I became the happy (as I thought then, although more likely than not) owner of the Smartphone + starter package from the Kyivstar company, and my device was registered in the UMTS/WCDMA network of this operator. For about 4.5 USD/month (cost for the Kyiv region), this package offers as much as 1.5 GB of mobile Internet, 60 minutes of calls to other directions and, what is of interest, non-tariffed traffic to social network servers such as Facebook, Twitter, VKontakte and "Classmates". The last feature was not critical, but in moments when the playlist on a mobile device was boring, it allowed me to bring new music to my ears.
Something inside told me that everything couldn’t be so rosy, and I was not mistaken.
The essence of the problem

There are no footnotes indicating that certain traffic to certain social network servers is charged.
The following story will be exclusively about the official VKontakte application for Android.
First of all, I decided to check if everything was really like that. It turns out not. Traffic for listening to music was successfully counted, as was traffic for viewing the news feed.
I left a request to the contact center, detailing the essence of the problem, and clarified that I only used the official application, did not follow any third-party links or watch the video.
To which I received the answer:
I left another request via chat, attaching the tcpdump log and indicating with which IP addresses the data was exchanged. To which I received an answer in the style of “the sheriff does not care about the problems of the Indians.”
At the same time, other users noticed this “bug” and immediately reported it on the operator’s official VKontakte page. To which the following responses followed:
On the fourth day, one of the employees (as he introduced himself) of the Kyivstar company contacted me and promised to help solve the problem. At his request, I recorded a video in which I showed and proved that subscribers are being deceived:
The first to emerge was the fact that the operator did not register all the subnets belonging to VKontakte.

He passed on all my materials to his colleagues. Another 3 days passed and nothing changed.
On the seventh day, one of the project managers contacted me and assured me that all subnets were registered and everything was fine. I record a second video that shows the completely opposite situation:
Day eight: my number and the manager’s number are monitored. The result is traffic counts!
Conclusion
During the 7 days the problem existed, a company of this level did not make an official statement, did not solve the problem as soon as possible (until now), did not apologize to its subscribers and had completely different answers to one question.
I believe that the company wanted to do good PR on the topic of free unlimited social services and hoped that users would not notice the small nuance. Noticed.
To complete the picture, we asked an employee of the Kyivstar operator to comment on the situation. Since he was not authorized to speak on behalf of the company, we are not naming him:
“In a number of new Kyivstar tariff plans for the mass market and contract tariffs (“For smartphone+”, “For smartphone extra”, “All for 500” and “All for 800”), access to social networks, which are most often used by Ukrainians, does not is charged and is not taken into account in the total number of megabytes used. This applies not only to communication, but also to the use of video, audio and photo content that is stored on social network servers. Tariffing for such traffic is “zeroed” at the level of all IP addresses that belong to and are used by these resources. Technical services of social networks can, of course, make additions or changes to the pool of such IP addresses. But they inform us about these changes, and we react promptly. In order to provide an answer to a situation with a specific subscriber, we need his phone number and personal consent for our specialists to check the information on his personal account.”
