I recently needed to connect a SIP trunk from Rostelecom to FreePBX 14 in conjunction with Asterisk 16 . As a reminder, I will describe the procedure to be able to receive/call on FreePBX via Rostelecom’s SIP trunk.
In your personal account of the Virtual PBX (Rostelecom), go to “ Users ” and go to “ user1 ” (you can create a new one, whichever is more convenient for you).
We look at the necessary data for connection - “ Domain ”, “ Login ”. If the password is unknown, then set it.
Let's set up routing of incoming calls to an external number for transfer to FreePBX . We set the transfer of calls in my case to the user “ user1 ”.
How to set up SIP telephony from Rostelecom
To use SIP technology, you will need either a special headset or a VoIP device.
If you have a headset, then you need to download a special application from the official website and install it on your computer. Enter your login details and go to advanced settings. There you will be required to fill in the SIP data specified in your contract. Don't forget to adjust your video and audio settings.
If you purchased a SIP phone, then connect the network cable to it and make further settings from your computer.
- Find the network address in your phone's instructions.
- Enter it in the browser address bar
- Enter login and password
- If everything is done correctly, the device settings page will open.
- Go to the SIP settings tab and fill in the data
- Click on save and reboot the device

SIP connection errors and their solutions
Errors, or answers, are divided into three groups and occur when:
- Inability to process the connection request.
- Software failures, failures and possible server problems.
- Global failures.
Errors in each group have codes 4xx, 5xx and 6xx, respectively. A number of them do not require special solutions, since they belong to the “normal” class, indicating a natural reason for refusal of calls, for example:

- 403: "busy";

- 606: "some requested parameters cannot be provided at the receiving end, for example, bandwidth, dial plan."
Failures with other codes may require intervention by administration or technical personnel:
- 400: request syntax errors - in this case, adjustment of the equipment in terms of signaling is required;
- 406: incorrect codec configuration - in this case, the solution is to set acceptable codec parameters;
- 480: problems with the central network database - the database needs to be configured;
- 500: transferring an account to a remote system - equipment adjustment is required;
- 500: internal server error - rebooting the server may help;
- 501: the server software does not have functions to process this type of request - you need to update the software;
- 503: during operation, the server equipment may be unavailable due to overload or maintenance - in this case, you should wait until the work is completed;
- 513: messages too large - adjust message length.
SIP phone: capabilities, connection, setup
In addition to the usual voice communication functions, many SIP terminals offer intercom and audio conferencing capabilities and support for video calls. At the same time, QоS (Quality of Service) software ensures high sound quality. It is also important that power supply to SIP phones can be carried out using PoE technology (Power over Ethernet - power supply over a local computer network).
Services provided by SIP phones during conversations include displaying the current time, duration of communication with subscribers (as well as information about them) and missed calls. “Instrumental” services include programmable keys (for quickly dialing subscriber numbers and frequently used device functions), of which today there can be up to two dozen, and connecting an expansion panel to the phone allows you to increase their number to 64. Rostelecom SIP telephony tariffs
There are no tariff plans for individuals and households, since SIP telephony services are not provided to them. Tariff plans are developed for legal entities - small, medium and large businesses, the public sector and telecom operators.
For legal entities, the virtual server (PBX) service costs 1.6 rubles. (including VAT) per minute of conversation, subject to the purchase of a minimum package of 500 minutes for 800 rubles. and subscription fee 1 rub. per month (tariff “S”). Outgoing calls when forwarded to numbers of traditional telephone networks are charged depending on where the calls are terminated: at local, long-distance or international rates.

However, any tariff, no matter how much it costs, is always a telephone connection of the highest quality (many ordinary phones cannot boast of this), and the cost is actually several times lower when compared with traditional telephony.
The basic tariff costs 400 rubles monthly. As part of the tariff, the client receives one workplace, that is, even in your database you already have a ready-made small call center. You can connect additional workstations, the cost of each is 41.5 rubles. For the option of permanent recording and storage of all conversations, the client pays 70 rubles every month for a separate workplace. You will have a beautiful number 8800*, and an incoming call to it will cost 1.3 rubles with per-minute billing. As for outgoing calls, the tariffs for them are as follows:
- 6 rubles per minute for a call to a landline number;
- 6 rubles per call to a mobile phone in your home region;
- 75 rubles calls to any Russian numbers.
Calls to international numbers are charged differently, depending on the country of the call. Prices are given for metropolitan customers; to clarify the cost of services for customers in other regions, you should contact Rostelecom directly on the support line.
