Today it is difficult to imagine your life without a mobile network. Staying connected while traveling is no less important than having constant access to the Internet while in your home region. After all, through convenient applications, a traveler can make calls, use a navigator or maps, publish photos, etc., without being tied to a hotel area with working Wi-Fi. When going on a trip, tourists should take care in advance of connecting to roaming or purchasing a suitable tariff. The editors of the YaNashla website have prepared for you an overview of the best mobile Internet tariffs in Crimea for 2021.

Top 2. Wave Mobile Space

Rating (2021): 4.57

  • Nomination

    The most popular Crimean operator appeared in Crimea recently, in 2021, but has managed to gain popularity among the population and tourists: more than 1,300 people are interested in its tariffs every month, its advertising reigns on the peninsula, and subscribers actively leave reviews about the work.

  • Characteristics
      Tariff price: 450 rub./month.
  • Tariff package: unlimited, 450 minutes and SMS
  • Options: + 1500 package minutes for 1150 rubles/month.
  • Roaming: up to 70 rub./min.
  • Features: no monthly fee for communication within Russia 2 rubles/min.

A newcomer to the mobile communications market, Volna Mobile has proven itself to be excellent primarily due to its favorable tariffs for both calls and the Internet. One of the most popular offers is the “Cosmos” tariff plan with unlimited Internet traffic. For calls to numbers of other operators, 450 minutes and the same amount of SMS are given. Minutes can be added up to 750 and 1500, in which case the tariff price increases to 650 and 1150 rubles. respectively. For those who come to Crimea for a short time, it is convenient to connect to a daily tariff - it differs only in per-minute calling rates, at 1 and 2 rubles per minute. Subscribers are satisfied with the quality of communication, as well as the pricing policy, but note that coverage is distributed extremely unevenly. In cities there are often failures, and if you leave, the connection completely disappears.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • Wide scope of prepaid package
  • Mobile Internet 3G/4G without restrictions
  • Stable speed without subsidence
  • Self-service service on Google Play
  • Possibility of daily connection
  • Poor coverage outside cities

State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Krymtelecom" - wired telephone

Krymtelecom provides wired telephones on the territory of the republic for ordinary subscribers and legal entities. Tariffs depend on the location of the subscriber in urban or rural areas, as well as on the category of clients.

If necessary, you can choose any tariff. To do this, you will need to go to the official website or call the hotline and leave a request.

You need to remember that in addition to a regular telephone, you can get IP telephony. The company can provide different phone options. This is possible thanks to the expanded network in the region.

For a regular landline phone, there are two options for digital quality - ISDN BRI and ISDN PRI.

If necessary, tariff rates and their full cost, including service charges, can be viewed on the website. Please remember that connection costs vary depending on the initial tariff rate.

Top 1. MTS Tariffishche

Rating (2021): 4.65

75 reviews from resources taken into account: travelinka.ru, Otzovik

  • Nomination

    The best value for money Unlimited in Crimea in the best traditions of home Wi-Fi, speed from 5 Mbit/s, almost universal 3G coverage, the ability to distribute the Internet - all this mobile wealth is available for 680 rubles/month.

  • Characteristics
      Tariff price: 680 rub./month.
  • Tariff package: 50 GB, 700 min., 700 SMS
  • Options: “ALL Networks”, “UNLIMITED Internet”
  • Roaming: up to 75 rub./min.
  • Features: floating prices after package limits are exhausted

Officially, there is no mobile communication from MTS in Crimea - instead, services are provided by the local operator Win-mobile. It is he who fulfills the conditions of the “Tariffishche”, the most attractive offer for an Internet user: 50 (or 25, depending on the region of connection) GB, 700 SMS and 700 minutes for communication within the network. Important clarification: as of 02/13/20, package gigabytes are valid only in the home region, but there is a loophole: by activating the “Home package+” option, you can use them in Crimea. True, in real conditions it turns out that at normal speed only 500 MB is given, then it drops to 128 kbit/s. In general, there are plenty of complaints about the tariff: despite all the precautions taken in advance, package and unlimited offers often fail.

State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Krymtelecom" - Internet

The Internet is provided in two directions. The first is considered to be a service for private clients. The second direction relates to the provision of Internet services for organizations and various legal entities, in particular businessmen. A private client has several Internet options. Tariffing is individual for each choice.

The coverage network extends to all major cities and towns of the republic. When connecting, you should pay attention to the various promotions and discounts that often apply here.

For legal entities and various businessmen there are also several connection options. The tariff schedule depends on the connection location, as well as on the selected options. There are several important points:

  • there is inexpensive unlimited Internet;
  • you can switch from tariff to tariff;
  • if necessary, you can use a service package that includes the Internet;
  • You can connect almost throughout the entire peninsula, with the exception of hard-to-reach areas.

The important point is that the price segment does not exceed the offers of competitors, and the Internet itself is of better quality.

Features of mobile communications in Crimea

Perhaps not everyone knows that the Republic of Crimea is considered unrecognized throughout the world (it received recognition only from the Russian Federation), which is why sanctions are imposed on the activities of large companies in the country. Due to this, well-known global operators do not operate on the mainland. Only those organizations that are not afraid of sanctions from other countries can work here. Operators who value their reputation provide services in Crimea on roaming terms, which is unprofitable for customers. This statement does not apply to the only organization - MTS (Mobile Telesystems), which continues to operate in the same way as before the introduction of restrictions.

In order to avoid pressure on customers of mobile operators, the Russian government adopted a law that obliges companies to cancel roaming conditions. However, this law only works formally - roaming was officially abolished, but in fact prices for users remained at the same, inflated level (the main increase in prices affected not the provision of communications, but mobile Internet - in this way companies seek to level out their costs). The main reason for high prices is the need for Russian operators to rent cellular towers, which are located on the peninsula.

Mobile Internet on the peninsula is underdeveloped. In most territories it operates in 2G format, which has a slow information transfer speed. 3G support is available only in large cities; as soon as they leave their borders, users are deprived of this opportunity. The 4G format is available only in three localities - Yalta, Simferopol, Sevastopol. You can find information in the media that in 2021 it is planned to provide 4G network coverage to the entire peninsula, but whether this will actually be possible is unknown.

According to user reviews, recently in Simferopol and other large cities it was possible to connect to the LTE network, which is by far the best for Internet surfing. This network can only be operated by one telecommunications service company, and therefore the government must hold a tender to select such an organization by the third quarter of 2021. Once the winner of the tender is determined, he will receive a license to work in this area and will be required to provide Crimea with Internet access.

State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Krymtelecom" - mobile communications

Among the company's most popular services is mobile communications. There are different offers for different categories of clients. For example, for private clients the list of tariffs looks like this:

  • "My Crimea";
  • "Contact";
  • "Super Contact";
  • "M2M".

All tariffs have different restrictions and conditions. A special range of offers has been created for businessmen, which can allow them to communicate with partners constantly and without significant communication costs.

You can connect your mobile phone at any company office. There you can choose the optimal tariff based on the individual requirements of each client.

For mobile communications there are additional options, including Internet. If necessary, you can select a suitable service or option in your personal account or in the telecommunications company showrooms.

Payment for services

You can deposit funds into your personal account or pay off debt using:

  • self-service terminals (without paying a commission);
  • PayBerry LLC terminals;
  • credit and debit cards of any banks of the Russian Federation, payment systems VISA, MasterCard, MIR through the PayBerry online service;
  • payments at the cash desks of RNKB and other banks, as well as through mobile applications of the relevant banking institutions;
  • communications departments of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Crimean Post";
  • 24 AllTime terminals.

Timely payment for services will prevent the formation of debt and the occurrence of communication problems. You can deposit funds into your personal account in any suitable way.

Important! After payment, you need to check the crediting of funds and balance changes.

State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Krymtelecom" - personal account

Clients can perform all basic actions through their personal account. This allows you not to visit the company’s offices, but to independently change the conditions for various services of your choice. What you can do using your personal account:

  • order connection of any service, including Internet or telephone communications;
  • switch to a more favorable tariff;
  • get additional information on new promotions and discounts;
  • contact technical support or get help regarding changes in the company’s work;
  • view your balance and all the necessary information on your tariff and all connected services, and also disable them if necessary.

Your personal account is the best option for obtaining any information and changing tariff plans independently. This approach can significantly save the client’s time.

The company has several main offices throughout the republic. If you need to connect, you can contact the specialists who work there.

Recommendations for using mobile communications in Crimea

  1. First of all, you need to buy a SIM card locally in order to avoid overpaying for roaming.
  2. It is better to purchase a card in large populated areas, in which case its cost will be less than in hard-to-reach areas.
  3. Before purchasing a card, you need to compare the companies’ offers and choose the best one, depending on your needs for communication and Internet access.
  4. When making calls and transferring data, you need to ensure that the device is connected to the desired operator, and not the nearest tower, as this will be cheaper.
  5. If you are using a non-Crimean SIM card, it is recommended to connect options and top up your account in Russia, it will be cheaper than on the peninsula.
  6. After the user has moved to the mainland, the card must be immediately disabled to avoid commission charges.

It is worth remembering that the main criterion for choosing a tariff plan should be the total cost of its use, as well as the data transfer speed.

Recently, one can increasingly come across reviews of the quality of communication on the peninsula. This is due to the fact that after the annexation of the territory, some towers that belonged to Ukrainian companies were demolished, while others were not modernized for a long time. Despite all the steps taken by the Russian government to normalize the situation, today users still remain dissatisfied. There is practically no development in this area. For example, for the period 2014-2018. the number of towers increased by only 3%, which does not correspond to the growth rate of the population’s needs. There is still no coverage at all in some areas, and people living in these places do not have full access to the Internet.

Access to the GSM network is available almost everywhere, but this is only possible thanks to the infrastructure that remains from the times when Crimea was in Ukraine. The functionality of the towers does not meet the needs of the population, and the characteristics of the equipment are significantly inferior to regulatory requirements. Even in such a large city as Sevastopol, there are a large number of so-called “gray zones” - places where access problems are registered. Not only the local population suffers from the above problems, but also tourists, who are amazed at the cost of the basic package of services. According to ongoing research, up to 15% of those visiting the peninsula prefer to completely abandon the services of local operators in order to avoid paying the high cost of the proposed connection options.

Win mobile operator tariffs

The largest operator in terms of developing its own networks in Crimea and Sevastopol is Win mobile (legal entity K-Telecom). Currently, the company covers the peninsula with 2G, 3G and 4G networks (Simferopol, Sevastopol, Yalta, Kerch, Alushta, Foros). The Win mobile line includes three tariffs: “Freedom of Communication”, “Fast and Furious”, “At Sea”.

The “Freedom of Communication” tariff, in its structure, is very much reminiscent of the Russian “Super MTS” from the operator of the same name. For the most part, it is tailored to the needs of people who live in Crimea and Sevastopol. There is no subscription fee. The client is provided with 60 free minutes per day to Win mobile operator numbers. Starting from 61 minutes until the end of the current day, the cost of on-net calls will be 50 kopecks per minute. Other outgoing calls to any operators of the Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol and Krasnodar Territory - 1 ruble for every minute. Subscribers of the “Freedom of Communication” tariff can connect, which allows you to receive 60 free minutes per day to numbers of operators in the Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol and Krasnodar Territory. The cost of connecting to the service is 30 rubles, the subscription fee is 2 rubles per day.

Nationalized Kyivstar equipment and secretive Chinese suppliers

Krymtelecom was created in 2014 by the authorities of the Republic of Crimea after the reunification of the Crimean peninsula and Russia. Local authorities nationalized the property owned on the peninsula by Ukrainian telecommunications companies - Ukraine's main fixed-line operator Ukrtelecom and mobile operator Kyivstar (together with the Russian VimpelCom, part of the Veon group). This equipment was transferred to Krymtelecom, which built fixed and mobile networks on its basis.

Krymtelecom subscribers have been experiencing communication problems for the last nine months

A similar situation has developed in the federal city of Sevastopol, located on the same Crimean peninsula, but is a separate subject of the federation. Local authorities created their own fixed-line operator, Sevastopol-Telecom, to which the equipment of Ukrtelecom and Kyivstar was transferred. Also, Sevastopol-Telecom, together with the Moscow system integrator IT-Progress, created its own cellular operator Sevtelekomsvyaz (trademark Sevmobile).

Until 2014, Ukrainian cellular operators of the GSM standard (belonging to the second generation of cellular communications), including Kyivstar, had neither third generation cellular networks (3G, UMTS standard) nor fourth generation networks (4G, LTE standard). Accordingly, the equipment received by the Crimean operators supported only the GSM network. At the same time, its Swedish manufacturer Ericsson did not cooperate with new operators.

To launch modern communication networks, Crimean operators needed a new equipment supplier. Former Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Dmitry Polonsky previously said that Chinese Huawei became such. Also, according to a CNews source familiar with the Crimean telecommunications market, in some areas Krymtelecom uses equipment from another Chinese supplier – ZTE.

Reviews from tourists about mobile Internet on the peninsula

  • According to reviews from vacationers , stable and inexpensive Internet in Crimea is available from local communication companies.
  • The services of the Russian “Big Four” operators are relatively more expensive, and the quality is not always the best . It is for this reason that experienced travelers prefer to purchase Krymtelecom, STS, Win mobile and Volna mobile SIM cards on the peninsula, which allows them not only to always stay online, but also to save money.

Mobile Internet MTS in Crimea - are there any favorable conditions? Yes, for example, the Tariffishche tariff plan: provides all subscribers with 25 GB of mobile Internet. The monthly fee is 400₽. Not bad!

What tariff should I choose from Volna Mobile while on vacation? The “Wind” tariff is optimal : the cost of a monthly Internet package is 300₽ for 20GB, 400₽ for 30GB, 500₽ for 40GB, 1000₽ for unlimited. Or a daily package - 12₽ for 800MB, 16₽ for 1200MB, 20₽ for 1600MB, 40₽ - unlimited.

MTS - tariffs

MTS is the only organization from the “Big Four” that operates in Crimea, and at normal prices.

  1. “My Smart” - for 450 rubles you can make as many calls and send SMS within the network to subscribers from Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory, and also receive a package of 400 minutes for calls throughout Russia to MTS subscribers.
  2. “Smart” costs less - 315 rubles/month. With it you can make free calls throughout the peninsula, and for calls to other regions you will receive a package of 200 minutes. But it’s better not to call owners of other SIM cards from this tariff - you’ll spend 5.8 r/min.
  3. Perhaps the best option is “Tariffische” - 25 GB, plus 600 minutes for calls for 525 rubles / month.

Brief history of Krymtelecom

Let us remind you that Krymtelecom was created in 2014 by the authorities of the Republic of Crimea after the reunification of the Crimean peninsula and Russia. Later, the republican authorities nationalized the property that Ukrtelecom (the largest fixed-line operator in Ukraine) and the cellular operator Kyivstar (together with the Russian VimpelCom is part of the Veon group) had on the peninsula and transferred it to Krymtelecom. On its basis, Krymtelecom created its fixed-line and cellular networks.

In 2021, Krymtelecom was corporatized and sold at a privatization auction. The winner of the auction was the Management Company of Infrastructure Projects (UKIP), which paid 998 million rubles for 100% of the operator’s shares. UKIP also owns the Zhemchuzhina, Miskhor, Dulber and Ai-Petri sanatoriums in Crimea and is reconstructing Belbek airport.

At the time of the purchase of Krymtelecom, UKIP belonged to the former commander-in-chief of the Missile Forces and Artillery, Vladimir Zaritsky. UKIP later took over the management of mutual funds.

Market participants believe that the real owners of Krymtelecom are businessman Evgeniy Roitman, well-known in the telecommunications industry, and brothers Arkady and Boris Rotenberg. This is indirectly confirmed by the circumstances that Zaritsky worked in Roy-owned, and 100% of the shares of Fin-Partner Management Company are pledged to Mosoblbank, owned by the Rotenbergs. However, Roitman and the Rotenbergs' representative deny this.

The story with Krymenergo is not the only scandal that has recently occurred with Krymtelecom. At the end of 2021, the company's mobile network began experiencing serious disruptions. By February 2021, the situation had not improved, and the company took the unprecedented step of stopping charging subscribers. The network was restored only in August 2021. Unofficially, it is believed that the cause of the failure was the debt of Krymtelecom to telecommunications equipment suppliers - the Chinese corporations Huawei and ZTE.

Federal operators and their capabilities

The Beeline operator in Crimea is considered one of the most expensive on the peninsula, so not every Russian resident’s salary will allow him to use this operator. Guests of the peninsula who use the services of this operator receive bills for payment in large amounts, despite the fact that the communication is of very poor quality.

For communication and Internet connection to work, you need to install a special anonymizer program called VPN. The price of the service is the same amount as roaming. Two tariffs are offered: “The most profitable Internet in roaming”, it is used for prepayment, and for postpayment it is “Internet Planet”. These tariffs do not need to be activated or deactivated. They turn on automatically.

Another communication option is Tele2. Tariff is acceptable

“Like at home in Crimea” package . In it, the cost of incoming calls is free, and you can call other people at a rate of 5 rubles per minute. Good internet connection. There are discounts for some tariffs.

As for the Megafon operator in Crimea, it provides high-quality communications when working only in roaming. There is a tariff option “Crimea” with a daily payment of 15 rubles. Calls made by a subscriber within the region are paid at 5 rubles per minute, incoming calls are free, one message costs 3 rubles, and Internet charges are 5 rubles per 1 MB.

We can conclude that Internet and mobile communications on the peninsula are underdeveloped, but there is one federal operator that provides high-quality and at the same time affordable communications.
