Tinkoff Mobile - the public first heard about this operator in December 2021, and today the network covers most regions of Russia. Hundreds of thousands of people became subscribers of the new operator.
It is important to know that Tinkoff Mobile is a virtual operator, that is, it sells services under its own brand, but operates on the infrastructure of another - Tele2. Z.Y. Home1 is the base operator with which Tinkov works. That is, Tele2. Home2 - Megafon, Tinkov's backup operator in regions where there is no Tele2.
In the regions where Tele2 operates, you will not be able to manually switch to Megafon, I warn you right away. Therefore, ordinary phones in Moscow and Moscow Region will not work under any circumstances.
General terms and conditions for using the tariff
Whatever tariff you set up, there are unchanged conditions:
- no roaming when traveling within the Russian Federation;
- minutes of calls are spent only on communication with clients of other operators;
- calls within the network, between Tinkoff Mobile numbers, are always free and unlimited;
- you can receive calls even with a zero or negative balance;
- Internet access is blocked if the balance is zero or negative if the package has not been updated;
- additional packages of minutes and Internet can be activated an unlimited number of times, balances are not carried over to the next period.
How to switch to Tinkoff Mobile with your number?
To transfer to Tinkoff Mobile with your number, simply indicate this when ordering a SIM card in the application or on the website, when the representative brings you the SIM card, you will simply sign a ready-made application for number transfer. The number porting process lasts from 8 days, but during this time you can use the old telecom operator. After the number transfer is completed, you will receive an SMS about the result and can start using the new SIM card. If you have any difficulties with the transfer, you can always contact the chat in the application or call 8-800-555-9777.
What to do if there is a bad connection
Poor connection problems can be resolved in the following ways:
- Going outside - here the quality of communication can improve. Indoors, the signal level drops - reinforced concrete structures and even plastic windows with energy-saving metal coating have an effect. In summer, it is enough to open the windows;
- Connecting an external antenna is a great way to catch a weak signal, but this will require a phone equipped with an appropriate connector. The antenna is installed on the roof of the house, right outside the window or in the car;
- Use a passive repeater - consists of external and internal antennas connected by a coaxial cable. An outdoor antenna is installed on the highest point of the house or on a mast. The indoor antenna is mounted in the room where household members most often visit. Remember that the use of whip outdoor antennas during a thunderstorm is strictly prohibited.
The best option is to use an active repeater (aka booster). Some good booster models are available on Aliexpress. When choosing, check whether the antennas are included in the kit so as not to buy them separately. For high-speed Internet access, use boosters with 3G or 4G support - their cost is 5-7 thousand rubles. The cheapest are repeaters with 2G - they are only suitable for calls.
Next we follow the instructions:
- We buy a booster on Aliexpress and wait for delivery;
- We place the outdoor antenna so that it is aimed at the nearest base station;
- We place the internal antenna in the residential part of the house, connect both wires to the booster;
- We connect the booster to the power supply and observe the radio signal readings on the LCD display.
During the setup process, adjust the directivity of the outdoor antenna to achieve maximum gain.
Some boosters are equipped with inexpensive whip antennas. More expensive ones are equipped with directional antennas, which is much better - all you have to do is find out the location of the nearest base station. We recommend using the OpenSignal application to search for base stations. Select the nearest Tele2 tower (Tinkoff Mobile uses the towers of this operator), navigate the area and point the antenna exactly at it - this way you will achieve the best possible reception. Now you can enjoy high-speed Internet and fast dialing.

For several years he worked in mobile phone stores of two large operators. I understand tariffs well and see all the pitfalls. I love gadgets, especially Android ones.
How to top up your balance and set up auto payment?
You can top up your balance with a bank card on the website and in the Tinkoff Mobile application, at ATMs of Tinkoff Bank and partners, or from your bank account. You can also top up your account with cash at ATMs of Tinkoff Bank or partners, at payment terminals, or at Svyaznoy and Euroset stores.
Autopayment can be set up in the mobile application. To do this, go to “Settings” and to the “Autopayment” section. Indicate the required replenishment amount there and when the balance reaches 50 rubles or if there is a lack of funds to extend the tariff, the account will be automatically topped up with the amount you specified.
How to order a Tinkoff Mobile SIM card online
The procedure for obtaining a card for using mobile communications from Tinkoff is very simple and does not differ much from similar procedures with other cellular operators in Russia. To successfully obtain a SIM card, potential subscribers must complete the following steps:
- Number of minutes for making calls;
- Access to unlimited messages;
- Amount of internet traffic;
- Access to unlimited instant messengers;
- Activation of unlimited traffic for music services;
- Unlimited traffic in video streaming services;
- Access to unlimited use of social networks.
- Select the parameters of the tariff plan you are using (some of them can be left turned off, and minute quotas, for example, can be removed altogether if you suddenly don’t need them). Familiarize yourself with the cost of the selected tariff plan, adjust the services you use if the price does not suit you, and proceed to the next step.
- Navigate to the menu below and select your city. This option is available in the corresponding drop-down list, and, as we have already noted, today the choice is available only for Moscow, St. Petersburg and the regions of two cities.
- Please provide a contact phone number for communication.
- Enter your full name.
- Click on the “Get SIM card” button.
- Confirm the action by entering the code from the received SMS message to the contact number in the appropriate field.
- Enter your SIM card delivery details.
After completing the steps described above, you will only have to wait for a call from the Tinkoff Bank courier, who will deliver a fully functional operator card to the address you specified the very next day.
How to configure Tinkoff Mobile Internet manually?
There is no 2G network support in the Moscow region. Make sure your phone supports 3/4G networks. If you have a phone with 2 SIM cards, move the Tinkoff Mobile SIM card to the main slot. Usually, network settings are received automatically via SMS, you just need to accept them; if they do not arrive, then configure the phone manually.
Set APN settings:
APN: m.tinkoff. The remaining parameters are default.
iOS: Settings > Cellular > Data Options -> Cellular Data Network
Android: Menu -> Settings -> More -> Mobile network -> Access points (APN)

Some nuances
Before becoming a subscriber of the Tinkoff operator, it is recommended to carefully read the terms of the agreement. In them you can learn a lot of interesting things about what Tinkoff Mobile advertising is silent about. Internet speed, for example, can be reduced at the discretion of the company, depending on how much traffic you pumped out per day (or week).
The initially stated speed is 150 MB per second, but with increased network load, the speed can drop significantly, down to 1 MB/sec.
Some regions of Russia, such as the Krasnoyarsk and Kamchatka territories, Magadan, and the Yamalo-Nenets District, generally have network outages. What can we say about these remote places, even if in Moscow and St. Petersburg the network often drops to 3G, and many smartphones adapted for 2G do not “see” Tinkov’s SIM card at all.
If you do not use the Internet services once in three months (or do not perform any other paid action), then three rubles will be debited from your account once a day until you resume use. If there is no reaction from the subscriber to this within 90 days, then the contract between the company and the client is terminated without the possibility of restoring the number.***

- Mobile operator Tinkoff Mobile. On whose basis does it work?
What is the benefit
A review of reviews showed that impressions of the presented Tinkoff Mobile Internet tariffs are mixed. Outrage is caused by rather high prices compared to similar packages from other operators, as well as a large and inconvenient gap between the slider points when choosing the number of GB. What the developers relied on when taking 2-4-7-15 GB as a basis is not clear. The right to choose the number of gigabytes in any volume, rather than adjusting to two or seven gigabytes, would be much more successful.
Tinkoff Mobile offer “Unlimited Internet” for 999 rubles. This is also not reassuring for every user: you cannot use torrents, and it was possible to distribute free Wi-Fi through a router only until February 2021.
If, against the background of this, you still have to pay extra separately for social networks and video, then the whole point of such unlimited Internet is lost. As Tinkoff Mobile states, the Internet under such conditions may not be beneficial to everyone, but a certain circle of users will definitely appreciate unlimited.
Apparently, the company is counting on just such clients who spend most of their time online and do not count their money. For other average Russians, paying 1,000 rubles every month just for the Internet is not yet an affordable luxury. Perhaps such unlimited service is suitable for freelancers who work on the World Wide Web day and night.
