Saving options for traveling around Russia
The high cost of mobile communications outside the home region is due to the fact that the provider has to cooperate with other companies and attract neighboring branches of the organization to provide high-quality reception. Therefore, in order to save money, the operator implements special offers for traveling around Russia and the world, after activation of which the user receives preferential rates for voice communication, SMS correspondence and mobile Internet.
Before setting off, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the specifics of the provider’s services in a particular region. Help can be obtained on the official website. Go to the national and international roaming section on the top panel of the interface. After that, select the country travel tab. In the next window, write down the locality you are going to and the tariff plan installed on your SIM card. After this, the display will display prices for all directions of mobile communication, as well as discounts provided that additional functions are connected. Let’s look at the features of providing current offers that will help you save money in a foreign city.
Home package Russia
After activation, you can spend free minutes and SMS from standard data packages within the established tariff plan. Cost and characteristics:
- The provider charges 10 rubles per day for use. Funds will be automatically debited from your balance only if services are consumed while roaming. If you haven’t made calls or sent SMS, you won’t have to pay for the function.
- The function is implemented for contracts from the Smart, “X”, “Tariffishche”, “Smart Device” line.
- The option is valid throughout Russia, except for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
- After activating the offer, previously activated services for traveling in Russia are cancelled.
- If there is not enough money in the account to renew the function or the standard limit has been exhausted, mobile communications are charged according to the basic terms of the contract.
- To activate the option, use the USSD code *111*743#.
Ideal for short trips or business trips.
Home package Russia +
The offer is implemented for subscribers who are going to another region for a long time. You can use home dial-up minutes and SMS in national roaming. Prices and features of provision:

- The function is valid for all contracts from the Smart family, “Tariffische”, “X”.
- It extends its influence over the entire territory of the Russian Federation. While the user is in Sevastopol or the Republic of Crimea, all incoming calls are not subject to calculation, and the remaining communication directions are consumed from the basic sets.
- After the service is launched, all similar offers on the subscriber’s SIM card are automatically deactivated.
- If you decide to activate, dial the code *111*128# and wait for confirmation from the operator.
Everywhere is like home Russia
With the help of this proposal, a unified tariff for mobile communications is established throughout the country. Functionality and prices:

- The option is valid on all current tariff plans from the Smart, “X” and “Tariffische” line.
- For a daily period, the provider provides a package of 100 free SMS. Balances that are not spent are canceled by default at the end of the day and are not carried over to the next billing period.
- When installing the service simultaneously with additional SMS packages, quotas within the framework of Everywhere at Home are consumed first.
- To start the function, enter the combination of numbers *111*528# and wait for a response from the provider.

The home region in MTS is a limited territory in which you receive preferential terms for paying for cellular communications. The article looked at how to use home packages of calls and SMS messages outside your home region. Do not overpay for mobile communications when traveling around Russia.
Saving a mobile number
This service is more popular among private clients who are about to... Let us immediately note that when moving to another region, maintaining a mobile number without roaming is impossible.
According to federal legislation, such a number change is impossible, since each specific region is assigned a number capacity allocated by Rossvyaz (Federal Communications Agency). But you can choose a more favorable tariff from your mobile operator, which will allow you to communicate within the country without serious financial losses.
It is possible to save a number within a region. To do this, call customer support or go to the service center of your mobile operator. But remember that when porting both a landline and cell phone number, you should not have any outstanding balances or unpaid fees.
Disabling settings
A quick way to remove an option from the tariff is a USSD request *145*05#. This request works to enable and disable a service. Some time after entering the command, you will receive a response about removing the tariff adjustment, but do not forget about the opportunity to use Megafon services outside your home region with regular prices.
Before making changes, you need to make sure that 2 types of services - international roaming and travel within Russia - are enabled. If they were suspended by the operator, the client, then it will not be possible to manage the region via USSD. In the latter case, a visit to the office will come to the rescue. When the option is disabled, only the suspension of 2G and 3G communication services works. To limit 4G communications, equipment reconfiguration is required and other communication services cannot be used when the subscriber travels outside the connection area.
MTS codes by region
To find out the region by MTS number, you first need to understand the principles of telephone numbering. A typical cell phone looks like this: +7 (XXX) XXX-XX-XX, where +7 is the Russian Federation code in international format, the number in brackets is the area code.
Photo 1: How to find out the region by MTS phone number?
Before, by phone number it was easy to determine the operator and the zone in which it was registered. Each cellular company had its own set of prefixes. If the subscriber did not change the communication service provider while maintaining the number, then the home region of the MTS subscriber can be easily identified by the codes from the table:
After canceling the strict binding of a number to an operator, it is impossible to confidently say which cellular company the number belongs to. Based on the above figures, we can confidently judge only that it was originally issued by MTS in the region with the corresponding digital code.

Steps
Keeping your old landline number
- Contact your service provider.
Telephone companies allow telephone lines to be moved from one location to another. They can simply move your existing landline to the location you're moving to instead of building a new phone line. However, not all landlines can be migrated for the following reasons:
- The area where you want your landline to be moved is not serviced by your telephone company. The phone company may not service the area where you want your landline to be moved.
- The place you are moving to is simply too far away. Transferring an existing service to another state would simply be pointless.
- Apply for line transfer.
Customer service will inform you if your phone can be transferred. If such an opportunity exists, you can write an application to transfer a landline telephone. Simply indicate the location where you want to transfer your existing service and fill out some paperwork that your phone company may require.
Expect your phone line to be ported.
This may take a few days or weeks, depending on where you want the line to be moved and whether there are free slots on the systems for your service provider to connect.
- In addition, a transfer fee and a standard setup fee may be charged by your service provider.
Keeping your old mobile number with your existing operator
Keeping your old mobile number when changing operator
- Contact your carrier's customer service and ask for your PAC.
PAC or Porting Authorization Code is a unique alphanumeric code that is used to transfer an existing mobile phone number from one carrier to another. This way, the user can still keep their mobile number even after switching to another service provider.
- Different countries have different laws regarding the issuance of PACs to subscribers. Basically, all you have to do is contact your provider and ask for your porting authorization code. If this is consistent with PAC principles in your country, the service provider should be able to resolve this issue easily.
You may be able to receive your porting authorization code for free or for a fee, depending on your network operator's policy.
- Contact the customer support team of the new operator whose services you want to use.
Once you receive your PAC, call customer service at the carrier you want to switch to. Once you provide your new operator with your mobile number and PAC, they can immediately begin processing your application.
- Depending on the region, porting authorization codes can only be used after a certain amount of time has passed from the date of issue (ranging from 2 days to a maximum of 30 days).
- Please wait until your request is completed.
The new operator will issue you a new SIM card with your old number from the previous operator. You will be able to use it as usual, as you did before, but now using the products and services of the new operator.
- If you have a balance or unpaid fees, the operator will not be able to issue a porting authorization code. Pay your bills before switching networks.
- If you plan to stay on your existing operator's network, you can change your SIM card and keep your old number, even without paying any outstanding bills.
- If your landline cannot be transferred, or the transfer fee will be too high, it is better to go the route of getting a new line.
Enable commands on the phone
It's even easier to change the option by typing one command. Press the sequence *145*05# and get the result.
Further activation of the option occurs in a conversation with a company employee through internal number 0500. You activate the service in this order:
- call the call center 0500,
- follow the instructions, confirm your details,
- submit a verbal statement and wait for the new tariff status.
If you are not used to setting things up yourself, come to the office and wait for your application to be processed live.
