How to bypass blocking of the Rostelecom website: main solutions

Reasons for blocking

Out of court, by decision of government, law enforcement agencies and the prosecutor's office, Roskomnadzor of the Russian Federation regulates and limits access to sites containing:

  1. Copyright infringement, distribution of pirated content.
  2. Data on narcotic substances, information containing instructions for their production and on the methods and places of distribution of drugs.
  3. Materials with calls for activities of a terrorist and extremist nature.
  4. Actions or information that can offend the feelings of believers.
  5. Distribution of pornographic information, including materials with pornographic photos and videos of minor children.
  6. Materials about methods of suicide, as well as calls to minor children to commit suicide.
  7. Proposals for the retail sale of restricted or prohibited remote alcohol products.

Bottom line

Now you know how to remove access restrictions. At the moment, the easiest way for the average user is to use a VPN. Access through proxies and anonymizers requires some immersion in the topic and equipment configuration. You can start using VPN immediately after installing the extension or application.

Some companies have started to build VPNs into their browsers. For example, in Opera there is a special switch in the settings. Just click on it to freely visit any site.

Ways to bypass blocking

In the modern Internet community, all prohibitions are easily circumvented. The population is becoming more literate and finding ways to bypass blocking of Rostelecom sites. Some closed sites themselves help users and, with the help of mirror sites, make it possible to ignore the ban. There are several simple methods that are considered accessible and effective at the user level.

Installing a special friGate plugin for any browser allows you to easily bypass the blocking of Rostelecom sites. To install, go to the download page in the Firefox (Mozilla), or Chrome, or Opera browser.

Download the friGate plugin for the browser installed on your computer and exit it. Then launch the desired browser again and activate the plugin. By clicking on the “disable friGate” sign located on the panel, you can disable it for a while and, if necessary, then re-enable it.

The plugin is designed in such a way that the client accesses a prohibited site using something other than its own IP address, but ends up on a proxy server IP address assigned in another country. In this case, the blocking intended for user IP addresses does not apply to other servers.

Important! After each viewing, you must disable the friGate plugin and enable it if necessary for the duration of use.

Bypassing Rostelecom blocking using a special Tor browser:

  • Toro browser has all the built-in tools to bypass blocking;
  • created to ensure network anonymity and the Rostelecom provider will not see the resources visited by the user and blocked sites;
  • To work, first download the official Tor browser from the developers’ website;
  • install the downloaded browser on your computer, then launch it and make the necessary settings;
  • the manipulations are completed, and users can access blocked website pages.

Important! For a non-professional Internet user, using the Tor browser will be difficult; some skills in this area are required.

Bypass Rostelecom blocking using a VPN technology plugin for any web browser. It operates according to the following system: an encrypted request is transmitted to a remote server located in another country and traffic from it is redistributed to the site needed by the user, which allows access to a prohibited resource.

  • The Chrome web browser is convenient for using plugins with many extensions, with which the user can access any resource.
  • Yandex browser to bypass the ban, download a special application and redirect outgoing traffic to a third-party server.
  • In the Google browser, they find the extension in the official store and after downloading, the site download is installed and launched using the mouse.
  • In the Opera browser, taking into account situations related to site blocking, VPN functionality is built-in. The correct switch must be activated and the lock will be released.

Torrents on wired Internet

Rostelecom's own trackers no longer exist. Users are forced to use third-party resources. If the distribution does not start from them, make sure there are distributors. You can look at the list of peers and see if there are any seeders there. If they are not there, look for another distribution.

If the torrent on Rostelecom does not start, try using a VPN connection. You also need to check the client settings - perhaps something is wrong there. Another tip is to look at the help section on the torrent resource. Here you will find many ways to solve technical problems. As for the provider, it does not block ports and does not reduce speed.

Will Tor help if your ISP blocks Utorrent?

In theory, yes. Tor is an anonymous network that hides your IP address and encrypts your traffic. The principle is similar to VPN, but unlike the latter, it encrypts traffic several times.

This sounds good, but there is a problem - using torrents through Tor is not very secure. The developers themselves state this and urge people not to do this. Using this network violates the privacy of your web traffic. And the torrent client may end up ignoring the Tor network.

Tor is also not very suitable for downloading torrents due to its limited speed. The Tor network has more than 2 million users and only 6 thousand servers. Accordingly, downloading torrents of 60 GB in size in a short time is simply unrealistic. Not to mention that because of you the network will work even slower.

If you check the speed of Tor, you will see that downloading a 1 MB file takes on average about five seconds. The resulting download speed is below 1 Mb/sec, which is not enough to work with large files.

We are dealing with speeds of megabytes per second. Since the average download time for a 1MB file is five seconds, that means the download speed is 0.2MB/sec (or 2Mbps), which is even worse.

It turns out that Tor is not at all suitable for torrenting. It's much better to use a VPN or Seedbox.

How to use Tor Browser

To bypass torrents, Megafon subscribers can use the Tor browser, created based on the Firefox web browser. It is distributed free of charge and provides a secure anonymous connection.

The steps to launch and configure the browser are as follows:

  • Download and install a web browser.
  • Go to the settings by selecting the Advanced and Settings sections in turn.
  • Specify the host (127.0.0.1) and port (9150) parameters.
  • Check Socks v5.
  • Launch the torrent client by opening the connections section.
  • Complete the settings: proxy type Socks v5, values for host and port - as in the browser.
  • Use a proxy for p2p connection.
  • Complete the settings by saving your changes.

If the download problem persists, repeat the setup and restart the program.

The browser allows you to bypass the torrent restriction set by Megafon. However, when running the latest version of Tor, you will have to disable the Torbutton add-on, which can be found in the plugins menu.

Knowing how to download torrents from Megafon, you can download an almost unlimited amount of information via a 4G modem. However, when using different methods of gaining access, it is worth remembering possible risks - network overload and transfer of user data to advertisers.

Enable encryption

The action puts the program into incognito mode, while optimizing its performance. The most used program is µTorrent. Let's look at the procedure using her example.

  1. Launch the program.
  2. Open “Settings” – “Program settings”.
  3. Select "BitTorrent".
  4. At the bottom of the window that opens there will be a “Protocol Encryption” item. Select "enabled" from the drop-down menu.
  5. Uncheck the “Support for UDP trackers” checkbox. This is done in order to reduce channel overload with service traffic. Otherwise, a large traffic load may cause the operator to track the downloader's address and reduce the distribution speed.
  6. Click on "Apply".
  7. Close the window using the "OK" button.

    How to get an IPTV playlist from your provider

    Any owner of a Smart TV or IPTV set-top box can get free access to interactive television. Universal applications for watching TV programs for free are developed for both TVs, PCs and mobile gadgets. During installation, a number of IPTV players offer to immediately select a provider and use built-in m3u playlists with a list of channels.

    The disadvantage of this method of watching TV programs is the need to keep m3u playlists up to date, since over time some of the channels are disconnected, and you have to look for the latest version of the file. The problem will be solved by direct links from resources where the owners regularly update the information in the playlist, so the list remains working for a long time.

    How MTS limits torrents

    On tariffs with unlimited Internet Smart Unlimited and Tariffische, a restriction has been introduced on downloading files through file hosting services. The download speed becomes low - it does not exceed 15 Kbps.

    This is not the only restriction set on unlimited tariffs. If a subscriber wants to share the Internet via an access point, he needs to pay. 3 GB are given for free distribution per month. When the limit is used up, 30 rubles per day are debited from the account for using the smartphone in modem mode. The operator is informed about the distribution of traffic to other devices by TTL - this is a parameter that every device has. Its value decreases by one when connecting additional devices via Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth.

    Let's first consider how to bypass the block on downloading through torrent programs and increase the speed.

    basic settings

    The client settings have several tabs, each of which is responsible for certain parameters:

    1. behavior;
    2. downloads;
    3. compound;
    4. speed setting;
    5. bittorrent;
    6. RSS;
    7. web interface;
    8. additional settings.

    In the “Behavior” tab you can configure:

    • Interface language. Here you can select any other program language.
    • List of torrents.
    • Interface – whether or not to launch the client when Windows starts; run the program minimized; show icon in notification area; associate torrent files and magnet links.
    • Power management – allows you to prevent the system from going into sleep mode when torrents are downloading or serving.
    • Enable/disable the log file in which program errors are recorded.

    The next tab is file upload settings. The main and most necessary add-ons at this stage:

    • Display torrent contents and some settings. If the checkbox is checked, then it becomes possible to select specific distribution files (for example, a specific episode from a TV series distribution or a specific track from an album of a favorite group).
    • Path to save files. Here you can choose the path convenient for you where the files will be downloaded.
    • Also here you can enable an email notification about the completion of the download or launch a program upon completion.

    The next item is to configure “Connection”. Basic settings for qBittorrent:

    • Port for incoming connections. A port is entered that will later need to be opened in the firewall or forwarded to the router. It is recommended to choose in the range from 50000 to 60000.
    • Connection restrictions. You should check the box next to “Maximum number of upload slots per torrent”. If qBittorrent downloads slowly, then you need to reduce the “Maximum number of connections per torrent” indicator and increase the “Total connection limit”. If your outgoing Internet speed is 3 Mbit/s, then the optimal values will be as follows: the total limit on the number of connections is 700, the maximum number of connections is 40, the maximum number of upload slots is 15. What to do if qBittorrent is idle or qBittorrent does not download? Experiment with the parameters, leave the second parameter lower than the first, about 10-20 times lower (the larger the first, the greater the difference with the second), and the maximum number of upload slots is half the number of connections.
