And all this, of course, is wonderful, but in reality, users are faced with the impossibility of using the popular technology - torrent. Downloading content using this technology by operators is often significantly limited.

Files are either practically not downloaded, or downloaded at an extremely low speed; this limitation is especially common on tariffs with a large amount of traffic, or unlimited. Let's look at why this happens and how we can solve the problem once and for all.

I think it’s especially pointless to argue that many files can now only be found on torrent trackers. And in some situations, downloading torrents directly to your phone is much more convenient than first on a PC, and then manually transferring them to an SD card and connecting it to your smartphone. Well, if you don’t have a PC at hand, then you don’t have to choose. By the way, you may also need to download a torrent using a smartphone in cases where the download speed on a PC is very low (by the way, I already had a separate article about this on my blog - https://ocomp.info/utorrent-kachaet-s- mal-skorostyu.html).

In general, in this short note I will show with an example how you can quickly set up a torrent client on the most common standard phone running Android.

Note: it is recommended to use a phone with at least 2 GB of RAM and 10÷15 GB of free memory space. This will avoid slowdowns during background operation of the application (downloading/uploading torrents).

Using a torrent client on Android

A few words about connection (traffic)

As a rule, downloading and uploading torrents requires a fairly good Internet connection (and preferably unlimited traffic). So far, at the current average tariffs, mobile operators do not provide many GB of incoming traffic, and therefore I would recommend using torrents only with an unlimited Wi-Fi connection.

However, if you choose the uTorrent client (which I recommend choosing), then there is a special option in its settings. function: downloading/uploading files is allowed only if there is a Wi-Fi connection. How to enable it will be shown below.

Selecting a torrent client

Just like for Windows, quite a lot of different torrent clients have already been released for Android. But, as I said above, I would still recommend starting to get acquainted with them on Android with uTorrent. Why:

• it is supported by most torrent trackers;
• it has functions to limit download/upload (so as not to accidentally “eat up” traffic);
• good and stable background work.

Please note that after launching uTorrent, you will see an icon in the status bar (it will always tell you whether the application is active). It is very convenient, considering that when you normally close the application window, it continues to work (note: you need to use the “exit” button in the program menu).

Important client settings

After installing uTorrent, before downloading torrents, I would first recommend going to its settings (note: to view the parameters in the top menu there is a special icon of three stripes.), and:

1. enable the traffic saving function (so that torrents are downloaded only over Wi-Fi). Although, if you have unlimited mobile traffic, you can omit this step;
2. set the maximum number of active torrents (if you are going to download a lot of stuff, I recommend installing 2-3 active torrents - this will avoid the phone slowing down and freezing);
3. disable autostart (this thing can seriously affect the responsiveness of the phone when turned on). See screenshot with settings below.

As for directly downloading torrents, it happens on the phone the same way as on a PC. Go to the torrent tracker website, select the file you like, and click on the link “Download torrent. “—the resulting file with the extension “.torrent” will be opened automatically by the uTorrent application directly from the browser (by the way, the download starts immediately, in auto mode). See example below.

If you click on the torrent file itself (already added to uTorrent), you can see more detailed information about it (download date and time, speed, peers, seeds, etc.). See screenshots below.

Folder where the torrent is saved (how to transfer it)

To find out or change the download folder, click on the torrent file and go to the “Details” tab. At the bottom of the window, the location where the downloaded torrent is located should be indicated. If you click on this path, you will have the opportunity to change it.

Please note that uTorrent allows you to download files both to your phone's memory and directly to your SD card. After setting the new path, for the changes to take effect, do not forget to click on the “Save” button.

A few words about exiting the application

If you simply close or minimize the application, it will continue to work (that is, it will download/upload files). You can monitor the operation of the application using a small icon in the status bar (next to the name of the mobile operator, arrow-1 in the screenshot below).

To completely stop uTorrent, use the “Exit” button in the menu (arrow 2 below).

Step #1: Download the torrent file using your browser.

So, open the aTorrent application and click on the button with the plus image.

After this, a window will open in front of you with a list of downloaded torrent files. Select the torrent file you want to download to your Android device.

Step No. 3. Select the folder and files, then start the download.

Next, a window will open in front of you with settings for future downloads. Here you can specify the location where the torrent will be downloaded; to do this, click on the “Change” button and select any convenient folder. You can also choose which files you want to download. To do this, you need to switch to the “Files” tab.

After you have made all the necessary settings, you can start the process of downloading the torrent to your Android gadget. To do this, click on the “Start” button, which is located at the top of the window.

If you are going to download torrents via the mobile Internet, you will encounter another difficulty - telecom operators prohibit peer-to-peer networks on unlimited tariffs, in particular, on Megafon Unlimited and MTS Unlimited. This is done to ensure that users do not abuse Internet access. You can surf websites, watch videos, communicate in messengers using unlimited tariffs without restrictions, but torrents are mercilessly cut, so it becomes impossible to download them.

All telecom operators are engaged in blocking peer-to-peer networks: Tele2, Yota. Megafon, MTS, Beeline, etc. However, users have found ways to circumvent the restrictions. Let's look at two proven methods that will help you easily download torrents via the mobile Internet of almost any operator.

Forced encryption in a torrent client

To prevent mobile operators from detecting peer-to-peer network usage, encrypt outgoing traffic. Let's see how to do this using the uTorrent program as an example.

1. Launch the torrent client and go to its settings.
2. Open the "BitTorrent" tab.
3. Uncheck all the boxes except the first two: “Enable DHT network” and “Enable DHT network for new torrents.” In the “Protocol encryption” line, select the “Force” mode.

Another convenient method related to encryption is using the free AdvOR program. It allows you to route traffic through a proxy in any program, including a torrent client.

1. Download and extract AdvOR.
2. Launch and click on the “Connect” button.

3. Click on the button with the sight.
4. Open a torrent client with the added file. The AdvOR window will be located on top of it.

5. Drag the crosshair into the torrent client window.
6. Click "Capture" in the window that appears.

Once the download is complete, close AdvOR to return to your normal connection.

How to download from torrent on Android

There are several applications that can handle this task. Let's take a closer look at the ways to solve it.

Method 1: Flud

One of the most popular torrent clients on Android, and one of the easiest to use.

1. Open the application. Review the warning that downloads will only occur over Wi-Fi and click OK.

2. Once in the main application window, click on the button with the plus image at the bottom right.

3. The built-in file manager will open in front of you. In it, find the torrent file that you want to add to your downloads.

Many settings, support for magnet links and constant development have made Flood one of the most convenient clients. However, there are also pitfalls here in the form of advertising in the free version.

Method 2: tTorrent

The second most popular client application for working with torrents. It’s also quite convenient and user-friendly.

Open the application. Unlike the above, this client allows you to choose both 3G and LTE for downloading files.

To add a torrent file to tTorrent, enter the main menu by clicking on the corresponding button.

In the menu you need to select “View Folder”.

Clicking on the file will begin the process of adding it to the list of tasks. After examining its properties and selecting the destination folder, click “Download”.

In light of the ability to download using mobile data, tTorrent seems preferable, but it also has some pretty annoying ads.

Method 3: CatTorrent

A recently appeared but gaining popularity torrent client, characterized by its small size and good optimization.

Launch CutTorrent. By default, the main menu is open, so return to the main window by clicking on the arrow at the top left.

In the main window, click on the add torrent button and select “Add torrent file” from the pop-up menu.

Despite its fast operation, CatTorrent's shortcomings are also significant - restrictions and advertising in the free version, as well as problems with playing some torrents.

Launch LibreTorrent. At the bottom right side of the window there is an add button. Click it.
