Kyivstar “Favorite Country” service: how to connect, disable

Kyivstar Favorite country is a service that allows you to make profitable calls abroad. It is easy to use and allows you to save a lot of money. In this article we will look at tariffs for some popular destinations, as well as general features regarding the option as a whole. So, let's go!

How to activate the service?

You can connect “Favorite Country” in several ways. Everyone chooses the most convenient option for themselves:

  1. Kyivstar service center
  2. Self-service system
  3. USSD request

What do you need to connect to the center?

If you don’t want to delve into the nuances, the easiest way is to find the nearest Kyivstar branch and visit it, taking your phone and passport (plus a power of attorney or other documents giving you the right to make any manipulations with the tariff plan, if your phone belongs to, for example , the organization you work for, not you personally). On-site service managers will fulfill any of your requests.

The official website will allow you to quickly find the nearest branch:

How to connect through the self-service system?

In the “Tariff Plans” tab on the official website we look for an available one.

By clicking the “Connect” button, you will be presented with a short form that will show in more detail the conditions for switching to a new tariff plan. If you agree to the changes, click the “Confirm” button. After one day, you will be able to use the new service.

How to send an application using USSD request?

The easiest and fastest way to get the service activated is to send a request using the combination:

*185*1*country code#

When we connect countries, the codes look like this:

  • First country: *185*1*country code#
  • Second: *185*2*country code#
  • Third: *185*3*country code#

Comparison with MTS and Life

For comparison, let's take the above-mentioned services from MTS and Life. To talk for 10 minutes at the cheapest international rate using the Favorite Country service you need to spend 2 UAH + 0.5 * 10 = 7 UAH. And this is only for Beeline numbers. To make exactly the same call using the MTS 0 service abroad, you need to spend 4 UAH. Of these, 1 UAH is for connection and 3 UAH for using the service. Only to landline numbers for calls to mobiles the cost per minute is 1 UAH (MTS Russia) 3 UAH (other operators) To make a 10-minute call from a Life number, you need to spend 2 UAH connection + the first 6 minutes at 29 kopecks and 4 minutes at 69 kopecks . Total – 6.5 UAH. And this is only for landline numbers.

Disabling the service

Disabling a service is as easy as activating it. The methods are similar to the previous ones.

USSD request:

  • Disabling the first country: *185*7#
  • Disabling the second: *185*8#
  • Disabling the third: *185*9#

The service will be disabled at the end of the calendar month, which Kyivstar will definitely inform you about in an SMS.

Changing country

A very convenient opportunity is to change countries when there is no longer a need to call one country, but there is a need to call another. Replacing one country with another will cost 10 hryvnia financially and will take less than a minute.

All you need is to send a USSD request:

  • Replacing the first country: *185*4*new country code#
  • Second replacement: *185*5*new country code#
  • Replacement of the third: *185*6*new country code#

Prices for calls with the Favorite Country service

Subscription fee Absent. What cannot but rejoice in contrast to Life with its Russia service
Connection fee 2 UAH (same as in Life, but more expensive than in MTS)
Calls to the Russian Federation 50 kopecks – to Beeline numbers 3 UAH per minute to other operators and landline phones
Single country connection fee 5 UAH

If you decide to save on calls to foreign countries, you should start installing the application. You can use any standard method:

  1. Use the USSD command system, enter the sequence *111*33*8# in the phone number entry menu. After this, a window will open in which you need to select a country or destination. Follow the instructions on the screen. If everything went well, you will receive a corresponding notification from the operator. To set “Favorite country. The whole world" dial *111*101# and press the call button.
  2. Any consumer of MTS cellular communication services has free access to their personal account. To enter this interface, you need to register and fill out a short form. To create a new account, provide your contact phone number and create a new password to log into the service. Once in the main menu, you will see the main characteristics of the SIM card (mobile account balance, personal information and tariff balance). Here you will see a service management tab, clicking on which will open a list of items open for connection. Find and activate “Favorite Country”. Before doing this, do not forget to top up your balance for the function to start.
  3. Install the official My MTS application on your terminal. It is free and freely available on any software and driver site. Enter your phone number and confirm it to register. The operating principle is entirely based on your personal account. In the main menu, select the services section and find the one you need. The utility requires constant access to the Internet to operate.
  4. Call the call center service - 0890. Ask the operator to install the option. The cost of communication with the operator is zero. To call from another provider or from a landline phone, dial 88002500890.
  5. At any of the company's customer service departments, contact your sales manager for assistance. You must provide your passport.

To disable the service, you can use the methods listed earlier. The USSD command should be entered as follows - *111*100*, country code #. You can view the codes on any resource on the Internet or on the official MTS page.

Attention! Both listed services have moved to the archived list and are closed for connection since February 26, 2015.
