Why are MTS tariff plans being closed?

A more logical and honest justification is not profitable. Whatever one may say, the new tariffs, which include a larger package of services, are correspondingly more expensive. The mobile operator decided to solve this problem in radical ways. So for all owners of archived tariffs, it is better to immediately look for a worthy replacement in the company’s line of offers.

If the subscriber does not choose a new tariff plan independently, it will be switched automatically based on the “communication services consumption profile.”

To understand the consequences of tariff closures for different categories, you can weigh the pros and cons:

  • the promotion is designed to “encourage” users who may reconsider their service consumption strategy;
  • usually clients who have been using the tariff for a long time have found the optimal price or quality ratio and the switch will mean an increase in the average bill;
  • For the company, such events are aimed at increasing the profitability and profitability of subscriber accounts;
  • nevertheless, MTS shows the development of the company, the dynamics of changes in offers, their content and quality;
  • A balanced package of services is available on the “Smart” tariff.

One of the company’s arguments in favor of eliminating archival tariffs is that priorities change over time: 10 years ago voice communication was needed, now all communication formats have gone to the Internet.

Additional arguments from the operator include improving the quality of services, reducing the monthly payment (which is debatable), expanding the range of options (including disabling irrelevant ones), and access to special company promotions. However. Studying new tariffs and selecting the best option from existing ones falls entirely on the client’s shoulders.

What does the company say about it?

Cellular operators are actively trying to present information in a positive light.
MTS, in turn, stated that the elimination of the main tariff plans is due to massive user complaints and a decrease in demand. The opinions of clients who actively use them were not taken into account. Due to the closure of packages, it is possible to suspend related add-ons that are connected exclusively to “archive” ones. The company explains this need due to a significant reboot.

What tariffs does MTS close?

In February 2021, the popular “Super Zero” tariff was cut. Since August, MTS has been closing a number of archived tariffs that are still connected to some users. According to the company, the transition to the new tariff is carried out without losses, and the range of services is selected individually for each subscriber.

Those “lucky ones” who were subject to tariff closure receive SMS messages with the following content: “Dear subscriber! We inform you that your tariff is expiring. We will soon find a replacement for you. You can find out about the closure of tariffs by calling 057033 (toll-free call).”

The following programs were subject to liquidation or changes:

  • Super MTS 04 and 12 (elimination of free communication within the network, increase in subscription fees);
  • Super version 09 (closed);
  • Region (liquidation of preferential calls, paid connection, change of tariffication of minutes);
  • MTS 05 (price increase);
  • Super 2013-2012 (closing);
  • Super 08 (if there are no funds to charge the subscription fee, the terms of the tariff change without returning to the previous ones).

As compensation for the inconvenience caused by switching from one tariff to another, MTS is offering a 10% discount for the first 6 months of using the new package of options.

How does the tariff closure procedure work?

Elimination of a tariff offer is a standard procedure that follows certain rules. The operator talks about its voluntary procedure; for this, the subscriber is given a time lag of 1 month to select an alternative. The order of operations is as follows:

  1. The subscriber must be informed at least 1 month in advance about the liquidation of his tariff plan. Usually this is an SMS message; in addition, employees make a call.
  2. To get acquainted with the conditions and procedure for the shift, it is better to go to the office or call the call center operator.
  3. The company offers to choose a new tariff.
  4. If the subscriber has not shown activity, he is forcibly transferred to new conditions.

When switching to a new tariff, the phone number is saved, and the transfer is free of charge.

"My Smart"

The “My Smart” tariff plan was a fairly flexible option that allowed the subscriber to choose the necessary packages of minutes for calls, SMS and mobile Internet. The tariff parameters looked like this (prices for Moscow and the Moscow region):

Not to say that these are the most favorable conditions in terms of price and available packages. But “My Smart” attracted subscribers more with the possibilities of detailed configuration with a minimum of body movements than with a low price tag.

Be that as it may, “My Smart” has already gone into the archive under the code name “My Smart 092018”, where the numbers at the end indicate the launch date of the tariff. This means that new subscribers will not be able to connect to “My Smart” or switch to it from another tariff plan. Subscribers who managed to connect “My Smart” earlier have nothing to worry about - they will continue to use the option under the same conditions.

Those who were planning to connect “My Smart” will have to find some alternative. And for this it is not at all necessary to change the mobile operator; MTS also has lucrative offers. Perhaps in the end they will turn out to be even more optimal than “My Smart”.

What tariffs do they offer to switch to at MTS?

As an alternative, the cellular operator MTS offers more modern alternatives from its line:

  • a hefty package of communication minutes, as well as SMS and Internet traffic is offered by the Tariffishche package;
  • unlimited messaging and social networks, as well as several GB of traffic beyond this can be found on the “X” tariff;
  • for phone users exclusively for calls, the operator has offers “Red Energy” or “Super MTS” (in an updated format).

Sooner or later, tariff closure would be necessary. Currently, MTS has more than 70 offers for archived tariffs. Naturally, servicing each of them is impractical if the number of connected subscribers is small.

The closest alternative to MTS is Tariffishche. This tariff plan with a sonorous name also allows you to configure the necessary packages of minutes and Internet. Although not as flexible, it is generally more profitable. To choose from:

  • 500 minutes of conversation and SMS - 650 rubles;
  • 750 minutes of conversation and SMS - 800 rubles;
  • 1000 minutes of conversation and SMS - 950 rubles;
  • 1500 minutes of conversation and SMS - 1200 rubles.

What’s doubly nice is that you can spend conversation minutes on calls throughout Russia and to numbers of any operators. Every day, a subscriber can use a free Internet package if the “Everything is Super” option is activated: it includes 100 MB of traffic. Following the expiration of this Internet package, a regular tariff is activated, the price of which is 25 rubles for 20 MB, which can no longer be called a profitable investment. Therefore, if you are an active Internet user, you need to think about connecting other options that will allow you to use a lot of traffic every month for a relatively small amount.

Super MTS 2017

This tariff was closed back in 2021 and renamed . It provides for an advance payment system: a positive balance is a prerequisite if you want to use the option or service of the plan. What does this tariff provide? The subscriber can make free calls within the network and to a landline number after the first minute. No pitfalls or additional payments.

Price for services:

  • No monthly subscription fee, but the use of the service is limited by the availability of funds in the account
  • The subscriber can use an additional 100 minutes to contact loved ones (it is necessary to activate the “Call for free to MTS Russia 100” option). If the service is not activated, then at basic rates you can make only 20 minutes of free calls per day to a cell or landline number in your home region.
  • Inbox – free
  • After hundreds of minutes, which are given free of charge according to the Super MTS tariff of Samara, a call to a mobile phone will cost the subscriber 1.5 rubles, and to a landline – 2.5 rubles. In the case of the basic option, if the data is exceeded by 20 minutes, the same prices apply.
  • However, roaming according to the tariff will not appeal to the user: the prices are very steep. One minute of calls to a CIS country will cost 35 rubles, to European countries – 49, and for the rest you will have to pay all 70. In this case, it will be much more profitable to take advantage of other offers.
  • For active mobile Internet users who have connected Super MTS to their phone, this package will also not be profitable without additional options. If you do not connect “Super BIT Smart”, then the price for 1 MB will be 10 rubles.
  • Thanks to the tariff plan, you can write a message to a network user completely free of charge. If you do not activate the “SMS Smart” option, then SMS in your home region will cost 2 rubles, and mms – 9. In another region, the cost will be 3.8 and 5.25, respectively.

And if such a tariff plan is replaced by another, more relevant one, then this, of course, will lead to an increase in communication costs.

The tariff offers clients two types of conditions, depending on the amount of funds deposited into the balance account. When topping up with 40 or more rubles within a month, the user will be able to spend 15 minutes on calls to MTS subscribers and other numbers in the region.

The conditions for the tariff are similar to “0513” and depend on the size of the balance being replenished. If the subscriber deposits more than 500 rubles, he will be offered 15 free minutes for calls. The package is updated daily, after it is used up, the MTS client will pay 1.75 rubles per minute for home numbers within the region, for other phones the cost of a call is 5 rubles 50 kopecks.

If the account is topped up by less than 5 rubles, the tariff conditions will come into force immediately. To activate unlimited communication between the company’s clients, you need to pay 4.5 rubles per day.
