Most Megafon tariffs do not provide for mandatory Internet traffic packages, much less allow them to be used when traveling around the country. But this does not mean that the subscriber will be left without a high-speed Internet connection and will not be able to access the network when necessary. The provider has provided a whole line of Internet options that are additionally connected to the tariff plan, do not change the terms of its use, have a low subscription fee and provide the necessary amount of Internet, including in national roaming.
Roaming in Russia
Every MegaFon subscriber will be able to use the Internet while roaming. Especially if he uses tariff plans from the new “Turn on!” line. They are packaged, providing subscribers with packages of minutes, SMS and traffic. Let's see at what tariffs mobile Internet at home will await us:
- “Turn on! Communicate” – 12 GB of traffic, 500 minutes in Russia, unlimited for social networks and instant messengers for 600 rubles/month.
- “Turn on! Look” – 16 GB of traffic, 20 GB on YouTube, unlimited for social networks and instant messengers, 1200 minutes throughout the country for 900 rubles/month.
- “Turn on! Speak” - economy tariff with 3 GB of internet without roaming in the Russian Federation, unlimited messengers and 600 minutes throughout Russia for 500 rubles/month.
- “Turn on! Listen" - a tariff for local communication, but with the Internet without roaming in Russia. The subscription fee is 500 rubles/month, it includes 250 local minutes, unlimited for messengers and music services and 6 GB of traffic;
- “Turn on! Premium - 5,000 minutes within the Russian Federation, unlimited SMS, 20 GB of traffic, 20 GB of video traffic, extended unlimited for music services, social networks and instant messengers for 3,000 rubles/month.
There is no Internet roaming on these tariffs from MegaFon. But it is available on all other tariffs, including without a subscription fee.
Option “Make yourself at home”
Prices for mobile Internet in domestic Russian roaming from MegaFon are quite high. The cost of one megabyte of traffic is 9.9 rubles. with a charging interval of 250 KB. The “Make yourself at home” option will help reduce costs. She maintains her home internet tariff when traveling around Russia. Its connection costs 30 rubles, the subscription fee is 15 rubles/day. It is available for all tariff plans, with the exception of “Turn on! Premium", "Turn on! Look" and "Around the World". It is not compatible with other Internet options.
Option “Internet in Russia”
If you need unlimited Internet in roaming, use the “Internet in Russia” option. It works with many Internet options (for example, “Unlimited Internet for phone” and “Internet XS”) and archived tariff plans. The subscription fee is 6 or 12 rubles/day, depending on the option and tariff, the amount of traffic when traveling around the country is not limited.
For example, this option is available on MegaFon’s “All Inclusive” tariffs - activate it if you are going to other regions where domestic roaming will await you.
“Gigabyte for the road” option
Looking at the name of this proposal, a suitcase pops up in front of your mind’s eye, in which a package with traffic is carefully packed. The volume of this package is 1 GB, its cost is 300 rubles. An interesting feature is the lack of expiration date. For example, you can use 100 MB on one trip, and 300 MB on the next, and any amount of time can pass between trips. If necessary, you can connect several packages at once. Check the balance using the command *105*1*2#.
Features of roaming in Russia from MegaFon
It must be remembered that all tariffs and options provide for coverage area restrictions - in many Far Eastern and northern regions they do not work or are provided with serious speed restrictions. It's all about the high cost of transmitting traffic to such remote regions.
They also do not work in Crimea and Sevastopol - in order not to go broke on local Internet roaming (it costs 9.9 rubles/MB, regardless of tariff plans and options), we recommend connecting the option from MegaFon “Crimea”. It will reduce the cost of traffic to 5 rubles/MB for 15 rubles/day. But it is best to purchase a SIM card from a local operator.
To activate Internet roaming in Russia on MegaFon, you do not need to make any physical movements - it is available by default. Don't forget to turn off the subscription options when you get home so you don't waste your money.
How to disable
Disabling the service occurs through the following methods:
- You need to enter the combination *574*0#, and then make a call. The option will be deactivated for 15 minutes. The subscriber is notified about this via SMS.
- You can also send a message to 0500942 to disable the service. The letter itself should include the word “stop.”
- If you have Internet access, the easiest way to disable the option is through your personal account. The process is identical to activating the service.
- Help desk operators at 0500 or specialists from branded communication stores will help you deactivate the function from your phone. Both methods will require a passport.
As can be seen from the review, using “Internet in Russia” is quite profitable, especially if a MegaFon subscriber travels often.
Internet from MegaFon in international roaming
Let's get to the fun part - internet roaming abroad. We warn you right away that this is an expensive entertainment, but there are ways to reduce costs. In order to clarify prices for Internet roaming, go to the MegaFon website and visit the corresponding section there. In it you will find a calculator that allows you to clarify the cost of services - indicate the name of the country in it and get up-to-date data.
Here are some examples from the calculator:
- Türkiye – 350 rubles for a 70 MB package;
- Abkhazia – 400 rubles for 80 MB;
- USA – 350 rubles for 50 MB;
- Australia – 350 rubles for 50 MB;
- Botswana (Africa) – 400 rubles per 10 MB;
- China – 350 rubles for 50 MB;
- Cuba – 92 rubles per 100 KB;
- Azerbaijan – 400 rubles for 80 MB.
In general, prices for Internet in international roaming from MegaFon have dropped slightly - just a few years ago you had to shell out substantial sums for each megabyte. Today there are few countries with expensive Internet roaming; in our review, Cuba showed the highest cost.
Please note that traffic packages are only activated when data transfer is enabled. If you don't need the Internet, turn off mobile data - no payments will be made. Repeated manual activation of packages on the current day is also available.
Roaming connection
In order to use communication services from MegaFon in roaming (including the Internet), it is enough to top up your balance with the required amount. In more than 150 countries around the world, subscribers can enjoy online roaming with real-time charging. But for traveling in some countries you should connect a free one. For example, it is necessary when traveling to Botswana and other less developed countries.
Current options
To reduce the cost of Internet roaming, MegaFon has prepared two options:
- “Vacation-Online” – connection costs 30 rubles, no subscription fee, cost of 1 MB of data – 15 rubles, geography – Germany, Israel, Egypt, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Spain, Finland and many other countries. Please check the list before activating the option and traveling, as the content of the lists tends to change periodically.
- “World Online” – 600 rubles per day for almost unlimited Internet in MegaFon roaming. The option works in 43 countries of the world, such as Abkhazia, Australia, Estonia, China, Italy, Spain, Greece, Denmark, Vatican and many others (we have already mentioned the lists above). Traffic is truly unlimited, only after 1 GB is used up the speed drops to 64 kbps.
Please note that roaming options may be activated with a delay, depending on the number of time zones from Moscow to the country in which the MegaFon subscriber is located.
Important point
Please note that both options are currently archived and are not available for transfer to new subscribers. You can explore our website to find new offers for traveling within the country and getting stable access to the World Wide Web, including using 5G technology.
Or quickly go to the description of current offers: “All of Russia”, “Internet in Crimea”.
Internet speed in roaming from MegaFon
In this matter the situation is the same as in the home zone. Access speed depends on the network congestion at a particular point, on current restrictions on tariffs and options, as well as on factors depending on the specific operator. No additional restrictions are imposed on roaming subscribers.
By the way, in some countries, MegaFon subscribers have access to roaming in 4G LTE networks. But it will only work if the bands match (some handsets may not register in foreign 4G networks).
Connecting and disabling an additional feature
There are several easy and affordable options to connect and use the network throughout your trips around the country.
- Through the subscriber's personal account. All you need to do is go to the mobile operator’s website and log in to the service. The user can immediately find out whether the option is available to him and organize a connection. To do this, just find it in the tab with available services and check the box in the desired position.
- The USSD command will help solve the issue; to activate unlimited access to the network, you need to dial *105*0042# and press the call button. As soon as the process is completed, the client will receive an SMS notification. This option is available even if the balance is negative.
- You can send a message to the number 0500942; in fact, the text of the message does not matter. No matter what the subscriber writes, in the end they will simply connect him to the required service.
- Indicate the number for connection in the form on the service description page of the mobile operator’s website and click the “connect” button.
- An alternative option is to call the contact center or visit a Megafon sales point.
There are many options available for connecting to the service. But in order not to spend extra money, it is important to turn it off in time. To do this, you can also contact the operator, use your personal account or USSD request, but in this case it has the following form - *105*0042#.
Use the services wisely and not only pay for the opportunity to be in touch, but also save on the services provided.

- Select “Data transfer”:
- Go to the Megafon SIM card tab, if your phone has several of them:

Save on calls
In some countries, the Internet is provided in packages of several tens of megabytes. And this traffic can be used for calls in Russia. This is implemented in the following way: register with some IP telephony provider (for example, Zadarma), top up your account, install a SIP client on your smartphone, connect to the Internet while roaming, and use it. You can also connect not to cellular networks, but to wireless access points - they are everywhere in developed countries.

Cost of the described option
This offer from the Russian operator allows users to get significant savings when using the Internet (unlimited). Thanks to the described service, you will no longer have to overpay for the time you are in roaming. But the function implies certain financial costs, the amount of which is set depending on what type of Internet you connect to:
- You will need to pay thirty rubles upon initial or re-connection and six rubles per day, provided that you have connected one of the TPs: “Internet XS 2012”, “Internet XS”, “Unlimited Internet for phone”.
- You will need to pay the same thirty rubles for the initial connection (repeated connections are not paid, since it is free) and pay a daily subscription fee of twelve rubles (much more expensive than in the first case), provided that you have connected another TP with the Internet. Based on this, it is always recommended that, before connecting to a particular service, you first check which TP is connected to your number.
Prices in the material are indicated directly for Moscow and the region. To clarify prices in your own region, contact the technical service or look on the operator’s website.

How to remove auto-renewal of Internet on Megafon
If the entire amount of traffic has already been used up, the user can still remain connected. To do this, just use a very convenient one. Its connection is absolutely free - to do this, dial the combination *370*1# and press “call”. As a result, traffic volume is restored. As a result, the subscriber has another 24 hours to use the network until he resolves issues with paying for the package.
For 40 rubles, the user has access to 30 MB of high-speed traffic. At the same time, you can connect it several times during the day. If the own volume provided for by the tariff has not yet been fully used, then activation of this option is not available - the subscriber must first use previously paid traffic.
Currently, there are several ways to disable Megafon “Extend”:
- You can call the toll-free number 0500 for customer support. If the call is made from another mobile or landline number, then dial 8 800 550 0500 and contact the Megafon employee on duty.
- Dial the command *105*1133# “call”. In response, you will immediately receive an SMS in which the operator informs the subscriber that, at his request, the outdated service has been deactivated.
- Send a message with a single digit “0” to the number 05001133. This method allows you to disable it in virtually one action.
- You can also traditionally use your Personal Account. If it is not there yet, you need to go to the official page of the company, where new users register.
Thus, in most cases, all necessary measures to deactivate Internet services can be completed without outside help. If for some reason it is more convenient to contact the office, then in this case the subscriber will be helped in any of the operator’s branches.
How to check if the Internet is connected on Megafon
Each Megafon SIM card contains the ability to connect to the Internet and automatically launches it as soon as you insert the SIM card into the phone. The verification method depends on the specific phone model. Below are the most common ways to check if the Internet is connected on your phone. If they do not suit you, read the instructions for using your specific device
If you use a phone that runs on the Android (Samsung, HTC, Sony devices), go to the “Settings” - “Mobile networks” (or “Network connections” ), find the item “Network access via GPRS” . If this item is checked, then your phone is connected to the Internet. If you use an Apple (iPhone), then go to the “Settings” , then “Network” , find two items in the list: “3G” and “cellular data” . If they are turned on, then your phone is connected to the Internet.
Users of a phone running on the Windows (Nolia Lumia) need to go to “Phone Settings” , then to “Network Settings” , find the “Data connection” and see what position the lever is in: “On” - that means the phone is connected, “Off” position means that the phone is disconnected from the Internet.
Additional service
