The main disadvantage of any, even the most popular tariff, is that sooner or later the mobile operator refuses it. Many tariff plans have gone into archival oblivion, and now MTS subscribers will have to lose another one. On April 3, the mobile operator will close one of the most popular tariffs - “My Smart”. Let's figure out what to replace it with and where is it more profitable to switch?
MTS warned about tariff closure
The operator notifies its customers about possible changes in TP lines through the news section of the official website or in the My MTS mobile application. This is relevant mainly in the case of transferring a certain tariff to the archive. News materials also contain information about current offers for everyday use. There are also options for completely removing a specific offer from the database; in this case, the client is forced to transfer to a new TP, in accordance with the terms of the concluded service agreement.
Mobile operator MTS prohibited subscribers from changing tariff plans
Miscellaneous 09.09.2018 | 4
Currently, the mobile operator MTS has almost 80 million subscribers, and their number is only growing every day. This telecommunications company provides all these people with communication and mobile Internet services, which everyone actively uses. However, she constantly resorts to various tricks in order to earn as much money as possible. The easiest way to do this is with those clients who don’t follow anything at all and believe that the state and its laws will protect them from all adversities.
All this led to the fact that the mobile operator MTS prohibited subscribers from changing their tariff plan. The other day, one of the residents of Russia, who has been using the services of this telecommunications company for more than 7 years, was faced with an extremely unpleasant feature, which he decided to tell the whole country about. He needed to change his old tariff to a new one in order to update and improve the conditions of service, which over the years have significantly improved in terms of mobile boarding.
However, when I tried to do this, nothing worked. Changing the tariff plan through the My MTS application, as well as through your personal account on the official website of the telecom operator, is impossible. At the moment of changing the tariff, a message appears on the smartphone screen with the words “We are sending your request,” but after a few seconds the message “Request not sent” appears. It is immediately suggested to close the window, or “Try again”, as if this will help solve the problem.
Thus, MTS prohibits its customers from changing tariff plans, although at first glance there is such an opportunity. Find out about such a “pitfall” only after you encounter it yourself. As a result, you can only change the tariff in a communication store, of which this mobile operator has several thousand throughout the country. Everything would be fine, but the telecommunications company does not advertise information about such a ban in any way, and even does everything to make a person think that the problem arises because of his electronic device.
Earlier, the federal mobile operator MTS changed the rules for the sale of SIM cards in Russia.

Why are MTS tariff plans being closed?
“Why are MTS tariffs being closed?” – a popular question among existing subscribers, to which there are several answers:
- High competition makes it necessary to rebrand and completely rework some existing offers. This may apply to both certain regions and the entire service area of the telecommunications operator;
- a large number of active tariffs create a certain difficulty for customers, complicating the choice for everyday use. This factor also negatively affects the operation of the operator’s technical equipment.
MTS raised tariff prices without notice
Today I discovered an increase in the cost of the archive tariff from February 1 without notification from MTS. I did not receive anything by SMS or email about tariff changes. I talked with consultants for a very long time and tried to find the notice on the website. As far as I understand, the increase affected many tariffs. If there was no notification, then MTS violated the contract and did not even try to understand this situation. I threw out the middle of the correspondence, they simply transferred from operator to operator, who wrote the same thing. I’ll leave a comment for the cons, in case this information is relevant to someone and is also affected by this problem.

Well, not at 10, for me it’s at 70.
The tariff cost 350 rubles, now it costs 420.
There were no SMS notifications.
I plan to change the tariff, and maybe the opsos, although somewhere else is better
the moment when I learned about the price increase from the post.
It is clear that the operator violated.
But the thing is that disputes under the contract can only be challenged in court.
There is no point in suing over 200 rubles (only for the sake of high justice).
In this case, there is only an option. Keep all payments for 3 years and then sue. Since the statute of limitations is 3 years.
In case of claims regarding communication services - 6 months.
Is this a contractual dispute? This must be an appeal for violation of the law.
Any action must have meaning. At a minimum there must be some damage, if there is no significant damage. They will make a decision to correct it. Well, maybe a small fine and that's all. Well, either find 200 like-minded people and file a class action lawsuit, then the damage will be significant and there will be a crowd of victims. That's a different conversation.
For now I’m planning to write to Rospotrebnadzor, but the advice is good.
The problem is that opsos have registered their sites as media outlets and subscribers must check the account and site themselves once a week. And SMS notifications are the wishes of the opsos, unfortunately(
But it has less GB than “My Smart”. For “for my own” I paid 200 rubles/month for 500 minutes, 500 SMS, 5 GB. I switched to the minimum “My Smart” - 200 (now 210) rubles/month. in 500 min, 500 SMS, 10 GB.
You can only protest by refusing their communication services. No other way
Well, why not, you can still shit at their door
Closing of archived MTS tariffs
The closure of archived tariff plans is accompanied by their complete removal from the operator’s database, and, accordingly, the impossibility of further use. This makes it necessary to force a migration to the new option for everyday use. The client is notified in advance by phone or in the form of an SMS message, which makes it necessary to independently study the current options with and without a subscription fee. Such subscribers are often offered more favorable conditions. It is recommended to switch to a new TP in advance.
"My Smart"
The “My Smart” tariff plan was a fairly flexible option that allowed the subscriber to choose the necessary packages of minutes for calls, SMS and mobile Internet. The tariff parameters looked like this (prices for Moscow and the Moscow region):
Options | 10 GB | 15 GB | 20 GB |
200 minutes and SMS | 520 rubles | 545 rubles | 650 rubles |
400 minutes and SMS | 545 rubles | 575 rubles | 675 rubles |
600 minutes and SMS | 600 rubles | 625 rubles | 730 rubles |
Not to say that these are the most favorable conditions in terms of price and available packages. But “My Smart” attracted subscribers more with the possibilities of detailed configuration with a minimum of body movements than with a low price tag.
Be that as it may, “My Smart” has already gone into the archive under the code name “My Smart 092018”, where the numbers at the end indicate the launch date of the tariff. This means that new subscribers will not be able to connect to “My Smart” or switch to it from another tariff plan. Subscribers who managed to connect “My Smart” earlier have nothing to worry about - they will continue to use the option under the same conditions.
Those who were planning to connect “My Smart” will have to find some alternative. And for this it is not at all necessary to change the mobile operator; MTS also has lucrative offers. Perhaps in the end they will turn out to be even more optimal than “My Smart”.
Bad or good?
Tariffs for MTS are being closed, how does this affect ordinary customers? Without this process, the development of a telecommunications operator will be impossible, which makes the process natural for any mobile communications provider. The benefits of switching for the client are as follows:
- improving the quality of service;
- reduction in monthly payment;
- the ability to use new additional options;
- participation in special offers and receiving a discount as compensation.
The negative side lies in the need to independently study the current situation on the operator’s market and choose an option for further service.
Tariff "Super Zero 2011"
Basic tariff parameters for Novosibirsk and the region:
- Subscription fee – 0 rubles per month
- Outgoing calls to MTS in your home region: 1st, 10th and subsequent minutes - 95 kopecks per minute, from 2nd to 9th minutes - free.
- Outgoing calls to numbers of other operators in your home region – 1.5 rubles per minute.
- Outgoing calls to MTS in other regions of Russia - 3 rubles per minute.
- Outgoing calls to numbers of other operators in other regions of Russia – 12 rubles per minute.
- SMS to home region numbers – 85 kopecks per message.
- SMS to numbers in other regions – 1.95 rubles per message.
- Mobile Internet – 9.9 rubles per 1 MB.
In Novosibirsk and the region, among the alternatives to this tariff, there is only “Guest”, the parameters of which are worse than the parameters of the “Super Zero 2011” tariff. But MTS is not going to transfer subscribers from the closed tariff to the “Guest” tariff. If the subscriber does not independently switch to another tariff before February 18, 2021, he will be forcibly transferred to the Tariffishche tariff plan.
What to switch to?
It is very important to study the current offers and choose the appropriate option to use. Among TPs with a subscription fee, the “Smart” line occupies an active position, capable of satisfying the needs of both economical and demanding customers. “Super MTS” boasts that there is no monthly fee, the cost of monthly service will depend solely on your needs. A detailed list of specifications is located on the corresponding page of the official website with the ability to select a specific service region.
The head of a Siberian factory proposed selling bread for 80 rubles
The general director of a bread production plant in Omsk spoke about the “fair” cost of the finished product
According to the head of the enterprise, which he voiced on the air of “First City”, in Russia it is high time to tie the price of bread to the cost of gasoline, as has been done in a number of European countries. He emphasized that Moscow experts are of a similar opinion, since the cost of goods directly depends on the fuel exchange rate.
– In the most developed countries: America, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, a kilogram of bread costs three to five liters of gasoline. In France and Portugal, where it is worse, there are two liters of gasoline. Russia should fall within this range,” the businessman said.
In conclusion, the entrepreneur said that a “fair” price for bread in Russia would be about 80 rubles per kilogram. In his opinion, the increase in the cost of a bun per month will “take away” about four liters of gasoline from the average family. The general director clarified that there is nothing wrong with this, since anyone can walk an extra time.
Why is the tariff not available for MTS connection?
Before activating a new service package, it is recommended that you read the terms of use in advance. If you thoroughly study the activation process, the question of why the selected tariff is not available for MTS connection will not arise. As a rule, the mobile network operator explains in detail all the rules of use.
Smart
All users without exception have access to this service. The company provides information that some versions of the Smart TP have been moved to the archive:
- "Smart Plus". An indispensable TP for communication;
- "Smart Zabugorishche". Favorable conditions for roaming.
The rest of the offers can be used without any restrictions. Tariffs transferred to the archive cannot be used. They are available to subscribers who have not disconnected from the tariff and continue to use it.
Tariff
Most recently, the cellular network changed the terms of the contract. TP included the best from its predecessors. Users began to reconnect en masse in order to use the operator’s services more profitably. Many subscribers have encountered a problem that is associated with certain nuances.
The big advantage is that after connecting, the user can independently choose a set of SMS, traffic and minutes. Even after the limits are spent, the user can use the TP on favorable terms.
Difficulties with reconnection are as follows:
- Activation is possible anywhere in the country. Outside of it, you will not be able to change the tariff plan.
- At the time of connection, the balance must be equal to the amount of the subscription payment.
The Tariffishche tariff is not intended for connecting to the Internet via a modem. In this case, the Internet connection service will not be available.

Unlimited
In the case of the “Unlimited” tariff, everything is much simpler. To make the transition, you need to top up your balance with an amount equal to double the subscription fee. This is due to the fact that the mobile operator charges for a month in advance.
What does it mean that the selected tariff is not available for connection to MTS?
Not every tariff plan can be changed. Even when there are enough funds on the balance, a number of restrictions apply to all subscribers without exception:
- Using a SIM card for unlimited internet.
- The usual pre-pay applies, but you need to connect a TP for a certain category of users.
When trying to change the tariff, the subscriber will receive a push notification that this action cannot be performed; in this case, it is recommended to contact support. An experienced employee will help you understand the situation.
MTS will abandon tariffs with unlimited Internet
Photo: Ekaterina Kuzmina / RBC
Since March 27, MTS has closed the “Unlimited” tariff plan with unlimited Internet access for connecting new subscribers. Representative of the mobile operator Dmitry Solodovnikov reported this to RBC. Starting April 13, MTS will close connections to other federal tariffs with unlimited Internet. However, such tariffs may remain in a number of regions “for some time,” for example, the Moscow “Transformishte” tariff, Solodovnikov noted.
Existing subscribers of the listed tariff plans will be able to continue to use the services under the same conditions, he clarified. According to an MTS representative, instead of “Unlimited”, subscribers will have access to the updated “Smart Unlimited” tariff. It includes unlimited calls to MTS numbers and 350 minutes of calls to numbers of other operators, 10 GB of Internet traffic and 350 SMS. In this case, services included in the package, but not used during the month, can be transferred to the next month. This tariff will be “de facto unlimited” for most users, Solodovnikov believes. At the same time, subscribers will be able to purchase options with additional Internet traffic.
The cost of “Smart Unlimited” is lower compared to its predecessor: 550 rubles. monthly versus 570–589 rub. earlier (the final price depended on the number of days in the month, since the tariff was paid daily). According to a representative of the operator, they expect that a “more affordable” offer will increase contract sales against the backdrop of a reduction in company stores. In the first quarter of this year, MTS, the owner of Russia's largest cellular retail outlet, cut 500 stores, and by the end of 2021 it may close several hundred more outlets.
Dmitry Solodovnikov insists that they are refusing unlimited Internet due to the low volume of traffic consumption. Thus, according to the company, most regular Internet users download less than 5–6 GB of data per month. “Taking into account the summation of Internet traffic quotas, the new tariff will satisfy the needs of the majority of Internet users,” Solodovnikov believes.
At the beginning of the year, Scartel (a subsidiary of MegaFon, provides services under the Yota brand) refused unlimited internet tariffs. If previously a subscriber in the capital region could pay 490–1890 rubles. per month get unlimited Internet and 300–3000 minutes of calls to any networks, now on the cheapest package tariff for 400 rubles. per month, the subscriber has access to 300 minutes of calls and 5 GB of Internet traffic, and on the most expensive one (2.5 thousand rubles) - 5 thousand minutes of calls and 30 GB of mobile Internet.
In February, Vedomosti, citing analysts, reported that MTS management plans to raise prices for tariffs with unlimited Internet access or completely abandon them this year.
