Mobile communications in Belarus are identical to those in Russia: there are 3 operators. One of them is MTS, but naturally Belarusian. And here it is in a leading position, featuring the best quality of communication. In second and third place are Life and Velcom - companies that are practically in no way inferior in quality to MTS. They are distinguished by more lenient tariff prices.

Despite the fact that international roaming is planned to be abolished in the country, operators are resisting this, setting their own conditions.

Where to buy a SIM card

The process of purchasing SIM cards in Belarus is similar to the Russian one. You can purchase and activate it yourself; no special knowledge is required. To purchase such products, you should go to a cellular communication store, having with you a passport of a citizen of the country.

Each telecom operator has its own prices for SIM cards. But the essence is the same - it is provided free of charge, and the subscriber makes an advance payment for a tariff that will be valid for a certain period of use. On average, the cost of a SIM card is 5-7 Belarusian rubles, which translated into Russian is 150-200.

How Russian authorities fought against roaming

Let us recall that in 2021, the Russian authorities began a campaign for the abolition of roaming tariffs when traveling within Russia. Deputies from the A Just Russia faction submitted to the State Duma a bill banning intranetwork roaming (occurs when a subscriber travels between different regions, but within the same network) and national roaming (occurs when a subscriber travels between different regions and networks of different operators, for example, in Crimea) . At the same time, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) issued a corresponding order to operators.

At the same time, the idea arose to cancel roaming between Russia and Belarus, since both countries form a single Union State. This idea was first voiced in 2021 by Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko . Then deputies of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) faction introduced a bill to the State Duma banning both intranet and national roaming, as well as roaming when traveling to Belarus.

At the same time, the Supreme State Council of the Union State made a decision on June 30, 2021 on the abolition of roaming when traveling between Russia and Belarus. At the end of 2021, a roadmap for the implementation of this decision, along with an action plan to identify and suppress “fraud” (fraud) in networks telecommunications were agreed upon and signed by the communications ministers of both countries. Practical steps in this area began at the end of 2021.

Cellular operators in Belarus

There are three mobile operators in the country. Each has its own visitor tariff plans, i.e. guest. And they are all worth considering separately.

MTS

How much will you have to spend on mobile communications in Belarus? More than 5 million people choose MTS as the company that provides them with communications and this accounts for 46% of the entire Belarusian market. The MTS operator in Belarus has some of the most favorable tariffs, both for local use and when used in roaming.

Before purchasing, a foreigner should know:

  1. Purchase SIM cards in Belarus only from official sellers. In this case, an agreement is concluded and a passport is needed for this;
  2. Unfortunately, without registration, a citizen of another country can only hope for an incomplete selection of tariffs provided;
  3. In the Republic of Belarus, there are many ways to deposit money into an account: bank, post office, through mobile banking, using a terminal, etc.

One of the most profitable is the MTS “Easy to Say” tariff. The first and only advance payment will be 3 rubles. This tariff provides for a low client fee of 0.59 rubles per month and the average cost of one call.

It differs from all others in offering profitable calls to other MTS users. A plus will be 50 Megabytes of Internet every month. The cost of calls varies: for three minutes a day the subscriber will pay 0.08 rubles/m, and then 0.03 rubles/m. For calls to landlines, the amount will be 0.15 rubles, the same as for subscribers of other operators. One SMS will cost 0.02 rubles.

There is a tariff “Internet BIT”, which provides access to the World Wide Web without restrictions, but there is a certain usage limit. At maximum speed you can only use up to 100 Megabytes, the rest of the time less than 300 Kbps are available. This is enough for users, but a limitation may arise if they want to watch a movie in HD quality.

Another attractive option for getting 5 GB is to purchase the “Easy to Say” tariff and additionally connect “MiniBIT” for 0.23 rubles per day. The conditions are almost the same as the “BIT” service, but using the Internet at maximum speed is limited to 50 Megabytes. With this tariff, the conversation will cost 0.19 rubles/m. MTS subscribers. 0.33 rub. will be the cost of one call using other methods. One message – 0.06 rub.

Another tariff is “Unlimited” for 15.9 rubles. per month, which includes mobile Internet in Belarus without restrictions and another 400 minutes. There are special offers for tourists in Belarus. For example, “Guest 7” is intended for 7 days in the amount of 6 rubles for 1 GB of Internet and 0.07 rubles per minute for calls from all operators.

How to call Belarus from Russia

It also happens that tourists from Belarus come to Russia and they also need to make calls to their homeland. And it happens that such a need arises among Russians. To get through, you need to understand the dialing codes and rules.

The country prefix at the international level is 375. To make a call using a landline telephone, you must first “go out” to the long-distance telephone line (via 8), and then to the communication center (via 10).

When calling a cell phone, instead of +7, put +375.

For clarity, let's look at examples:

  1. Call Belarus from a mobile phone: +375XXX XXXXXXX.
  2. To a landline: dial the number 8, wait for the dial tone, dial 10 and 375, followed by the city prefix and landline phone number.

Using an example, consider a call to Minsk: dial 8, wait for the dial tone, then 375 and the Minsk code 070, and then the city number, for example, 1345789.

Prefixes of Belarusian cities (codes of mobile operators in Belarus):

  • 070 – Minsk;
  • 0162 – Brest;
  • 015 – Grodno;
  • 02230 – Gomel;
  • 0212 – Vitebsk;
  • 0222 – Mogilev.

Car owners will have to pay for traveling abroad

From June 1, a local fee will be collected in the Gomel region for vehicles crossing the state border at checkpoints.

The fee will be 1 BV. This fee will be charged per vehicle.

This decision of local authorities will take effect from June 1 and will be valid until January 1 of the next year.

Previously, a similar fee was introduced in May in the Grodno region. It is also known that the Brest Regional Council supported the draft decision to introduce a fee for crossing the border at checkpoints.

Laws on media and mass events will come into force

At the end of May Alexander Lukashenko introduced changes to the legislation relating to mass events and the media.

Among the innovations is a ban on posting the results of public opinion polls related to the socio-political situation, conducted without obtaining the necessary accreditation, and on posting hyperlinks to messages and materials containing information the dissemination of which is prohibited.

The notification procedure for organizing mass events is excluded (all mass events will have to be held solely on the basis of permission from local authorities). A ban is also being introduced on real-time coverage of mass events held in violation of the established order for the purpose of their popularization or propaganda. This ban will also apply to media journalists. Journalists, while performing their duties, are prohibited from acting as organizers or participants in mass events.

The documents were published on the National Legal Portal on May 25 and come into force one month after official publication.

DH will start

In June, centralized testing will begin for applicants, registration for which will end on June 1. On June 16, tests will be held in the Belarusian language, on June 18 and 19 - in the Russian language, on June 21 - in social studies, on June 23 and 24 - in mathematics, on June 26 - in biology, on June 28 - in foreign languages, and on June 30 - in chemistry. Applicants will take the CT for other subjects in July.

On the day of the test, at the testing point, the applicant presents a pass and the original identification document (passport, residence permit, certificate of loss (theft) of an identification document).

The test cost for one subject is 2.9 rubles.

Railway crossings will be closed

Crossings on Frolenkova Street (non-public path of military unit No. 55435 and non-public path of the Druzhba poultry farm) will be closed from 9.00 to 00.00 on June 8.

The reason is the repair of railway tracks. The detour of vehicles will be carried out along the route: st. Frolenkova - st. Gruntovaya - st. Festivalnaya – st. Kabushkina.

Due to repair work, city bus No. 1 will run from the city center only to the Gas Institute stop (and back along the same route). There will be no bus service on the section from the Rusino cemetery to the Gas Institute stop.

The construction of the school and the renovation of the recreation center will be completed

The standard deadline for commissioning a secondary school on Skaryna Street is June of this year. The secondary school was assigned No. 1, it will bear the name of Sergei Gritsevets - twice Hero of the Soviet Union, a native of the Baranovichi district. The educational institution will operate in two shifts and can accommodate 1,700 students.

Also in June they plan to complete the overhaul of the city House of Culture.

Hot water will be turned off

In the first month of summer, hot water supply will be turned off three times.

From June 7 to 11, due to the preparation of heating networks and equipment of the Baranovichi CHPP for operation in the autumn-winter period, there will be no hot water on the streets Brestskaya, Dimitrova, Lenina, Sovetskaya, Komsomolskaya, 5, Gagarina, Malakhovskaya, 3. Kosmodemyanskaya, 50 years of the Komsomol, 2–16.

From June 14 to 18 - on the streets of Vilchkovskogo, Brestskaya, Pritytskogo, Komsomolskaya, 12–20, Gagarina, Lisina, Stroiteley, Kommunisticheskaya, 50 let VLKSM, 18–48, in the Borovka microdistrict.

From June 21 to 25 - in the Northern microdistrict, in Tekstilny and in the village bounded by Proletarskaya, Promyshlennaya, Kirova streets.

Citizenship will be revoked for extremism

On June 18, changes to the law “On Citizenship of the Republic of Belarus” will come into force. The most important amendment concerns the possibility of depriving Belarusian citizenship for extremism “or causing grave harm to the interests of the state.” Criminal articles 124–126, 130–133, 287, 289–290.5, 293, 356, 357, 359–361.3 will fall under this, regardless of the place where the crime was committed. The basis for deprivation of citizenship will be a court decision.

It will not be possible to deprive minors of citizenship, as well as those who acquired it by birth and never left it.

Also, the new version of the law will simplify obtaining Belarusian citizenship for some reasons. For example, children born and permanently residing in Belarus, whose parents do not have citizenship.

The period of permanent residence of a foreigner to obtain Belarusian citizenship will be reduced from seven to five years.
