That is, to finally cancel the number you only need to wait six months.
After this, the number will be blocked, and after some time it will belong to another subscriber. This method is fraught with one danger - we can forget about the presence of paid services on the number, so after the final blocking there is every chance of receiving a letter in the mail asking to pay off the debt on the personal account (yes, exactly on the personal account, since the number by that time will already be untied). Often such debts are transferred to collection agencies, which try to “knock out” the debt from the former subscriber.
