Hardly any of the modern users of cellular communication services would disagree with the statement that for most subscribers, the priority has long been not the opportunity to make profitable calls and send SMS, but to directly use Internet traffic. This is really true, because we live in a world where everything is somehow “tied” to the Global Network. And there is no escape from this.
That is why cellular companies offer Internet traffic in most of their tariff packages, create separate Internet services, and constantly update the line of current tariffs. However, what all these tariffs have in common is a very serious cost. If you want to have an impressive internet package, you need to pay for it. And you often have to pay a lot. And if we talk about unlimited offers, then the price tags here are absolutely “cosmic”.
However, MTS decided to respond to all its competitors by implementing the unlimited “Internet 4 Mbit/s” tariff option, which we will consider today in our article.
Description
The main characteristics of the mentioned option are extremely simple and will not surprise subscribers. According to the information provided by the mobile operator, the offer includes:
- 3 GB Internet traffic;
- available within a month;
- the balance of the package is not carried over to the next reporting period;
- speed depends on the client's location.
Additionally, you need to know that exhausting the limit will lead to automatic activation of an additional package of 500 MB. The subscriber is provided with up to 15 additional packages per month. Their exhaustion will require the owner of the SIM card to independently activate the option with additional megabytes.
Features of the option
Many people today are interested in the question: what is it and what benefits does it give to users? It should be immediately clarified that the option is designed for subscribers who do not use the Internet regularly.
Everything here is based on a control system: as soon as the user connects to the network, a small amount is charged for a 20 MB package.
There is no need to pay for a monthly traffic package that the subscriber does not use. It is more profitable to give an amount within 100 rubles when you need the Internet.

To whom is it available?
The service is basic on 3 tariff plans for mobile phones:
- Red Energy;
- Per second;
- Your country.
It remains in “sleep” inactive mode while the user is not using the Internet. Its activation is triggered by the first visit to the network using at least 3 MB of traffic. If the SIM card owner spends less on the Internet, the option will remain unused, and the connection to the World Wide Web will occur under the terms of the “Basic Internet Tariff”. At the same time, the operator provides a 100% discount on the use of the basic tariff.
Option “BIT” from the MTS operator
connects to major phone or smartphone plans. MTS offers 75 Megabytes of Internet per day for a monthly fee of 200 rubles/month. For many, this is enough to receive notifications in applications and open some light sites; about 2 GB of traffic is collected per month.
With dedicated traffic from Bit, you can communicate without restrictions via instant messengers (Viber, Skype, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.), as well as correspond by email and on social networks, and read books online. All online video and audio viewing takes up a lot of traffic, and the allotted 75 MB is not enough for this. Especially the Internet option “Bit” attracts those who rarely go online and do not want to overpay for larger packages.
This option is for residents and guests of Moscow and the region. Within the metropolitan area, you can use traffic. When you travel outside this region, the service does not work; you need to connect another option there. The specificity of the service is that after spending the allocated 75 MB, a paid traffic package is activated. You are allowed to use a maximum of 15 packages per day, each 50 MB and costing 8 rubles. if you use everything, the Internet turns off .
It is possible to increase the speed of your Internet connection by typing commands. You can also disable paid Internet packages as an option so as not to spend money.
The limitations of the “BIT” option also include the inability to use a file hosting service. In addition, there are sites that BIT puts as a priority and 1 MB of traffic to them is paid for 30 rubles.

All actions of the option are commented on by SMS notifications about the end of the limit and the transition to daily payment or vice versa. The option was invented for simple phones or smartphones, but a SIM card with an active service can also be installed on a tablet PC.
In order not to spend all the bandwidth of the option on updating applications on your tablet or smartphone, check the box in the settings “update only via Wi-Fi” and not automatically. If you put a SIM card in a modem or router, the allocated traffic will not be enough for use.
Conditions
According to the current conditions, the option is available throughout Russia. At the same time, the cost and procedure for use do not change even while the client travels around the country. Changes in connection speed are possible, but they are related to the characteristics and quality of communication in each individual subject, therefore it is impossible to influence this fact.
The interaction and compatibility of the option with similar MTS services deserves special attention. At the moment, simultaneous use of several Internet options is not allowed. The exception is the mentioned basic tariff.

Honestly, I wouldn’t even pay attention to the tariffs - there is too much other news and work right now. But when I saw a promotion for three months at half price for any of the options, and even from a major operator...
It turns out that, say, in Moscow (prices and conditions may be different in the regions), you will pay not 650 rubles for the basic tariff, but only 325 rubles. With the top one, the savings in rubles will be even more noticeable - the same 650 rubles, but with a discount.

How to connect your first MTS Internet package?
At several of the tariffs listed above, activation of the service is not required, since it is among the main ones and is available to subscribers initially. In other cases, you can connect the offer using standard methods:
- through your personal account;
- by calling the contact center;
- by turning to the employees of the company's communication salon for help.
Connection is free and will not lead to debiting of funds.
What is the essence of these tariffs?
As is now customary, MegaFon has combined all its key services into single tariffs. They are called “Unite!”
The essence of the tariffs is two or three different products, united by one single payment per month. This:
► Home Internet: speed from 50 to 500 Mbit/sec via regular cable. NOT GPON! You can use your own routers, which is just great, or pay an additional 55/88 rubles per month for rent. In the maximum tariff, a gigabit router is provided free of charge.
► Mobile communications: various tariffs from limited in traffic and minutes to almost unlimited (the Internet is generally completely unlimited, except for the junior tariff with 30 gigabytes). You can switch with your number or request a new SIM card.
► Mobile and home TV: set-top box for free (in some tariffs) or for 99 rubles per month, plus access to TV from any device (including through the proprietary MegaFon TV application) and browser.
All this stuff was compiled and divided into four different tariffs with one total payment per month. And they also gave me a discount on top.
How to disable the “First Internet Package” on MTS?
It will not be difficult for users to find an answer to the question of how to disable the “first Internet package” of MTS. To deactivate the service, you should:
- make the appropriate changes in your personal account on the operator’s official website;
- ask support service consultants to perform similar actions;
- dial and send the special USSD command *111*1431#;
- contact the employees of the communication salon;
- use the service guide;
- disconnect via the official mobile application.
Activating an alternative Internet option that is incompatible with the one described will also lead to disconnection.
Reviews about the “Minibit” option
If you carefully study the description of the “Minibit” Internet option on the MTS website, it becomes obvious that the service is not suitable for everyone. Users who have already enabled the option have expressed very mixed opinions about it.
If we analyze user reviews, we can conclude that daily traffic of 300 MB is quite enough to use email services and instant messengers, but for Internet surfing and use in roaming it is better to choose another service.
Many subscribers noted that a 20 MB package is not enough even for a one-time visit to pages on popular social networks. Others, on the contrary, noted the cost-effectiveness of the Minibit.

Unite! All yours
Top tariff, so there’s the maximum of everything. Home Internet – as much as 500 Mbit/sec! And they give you the router for free (I’ll tell you about it in detail in the test later).
Mobile communications are not far behind: “flagship” 2100 minutes and unlimited Internet. And there are so many channels, 250 of them. And you don’t have to pay for a TV set-top box; they rent it for nothing.
The regular price for this option is not low. But if you divide it purely by the speed of your home Internet and a mobile tariff of such a high level, then the amount seems reasonable, even profitable. Dividing it two more times, we get something unrealistic for Russia.
Price: 1300 650 rubles per month (!!!)
As you may have guessed, I decided to try the top tariff. The maximum speed of the home Internet was impressive - a great help for a ton of gadgets that regularly download firmware updates or new versions of installed applications.
What pleased me more than the speed was the price. 650 rubles for all this for three months , in one payment, with rental of all equipment, unlimited Internet on a smartphone and a bonus in the form of television... show me such prices in Russia or at least specifically in Moscow.
You won't show it, because they don't exist.
GPON technology
Separately, we should dwell on this new product, which is currently offered only by this operator. It is a broadband network with multi-service access, and of high quality. This is possible through the use of optics that go to the end subscriber.
GPON is home Internet, television and telephone over one wire. For now, the service is available only in Moscow and not in every home. The connection speed reaches 1 Gbit/s, but it is not stated in the tariffs of the official partner MGTS.
The connection occurs as follows:
- First, the availability of a service such as GPON home Internet (Jipon) is checked, and the MTS provider provides a set of equipment if it is possible to enable it.
- An ONT modem is installed in the apartment, from which cables are laid or Wi-Fi is distributed.
- The telephone and TV are connected to it.
The technology is promising, but quite expensive to implement. Therefore, it has not yet advanced beyond Moscow and Moscow Region.

Rules and limitations of the “Internet 4 Mbit” option
If a subscriber uses the services of file-sharing resources and networks, MTS limits the connection speed to these directions to 512 Kbps.
Geographically, the coverage area of the service extends to any regions and areas of Russia that are covered by telecommunication stations of the mobile operator. However, using the service in a region that is not home to the subscriber requires an additional fee:
- Fee for using “Internet 4 Mbit/sec.” when traveling around Russia – 50 rubles/day.
- If during a calendar day the subscriber has never used the Internet, the fee will not be charged.
- Withdrawals are made at the start of the first Internet session of the day. The moment from the date of debit until 23:59:59 of the current day is considered paid.
- If during one day the user visited several Russian regions, the fee is charged only once.
- The speed of access and conditions of provision are maintained regardless of the region of residence.
Unite! Two Internets
This is a tariff for those who do not need TV - there is no service, but the conditions for the remaining two are noticeably better.
Home Internet is now 200 Mbit/s, which is generally enough for the vast majority for any task, from 4K streaming to gaming. You can rent a suitable router for 88 rubles per month, or use your own.
The mobile communication tariff has also become fatter: mobile Internet is unlimited (distribution too!), plus 900 minutes of calls.
An excellent rate in all respects. I would get one myself if I didn’t want even higher speeds for my home Internet.
Price: 750,375 rubles per month
Impressions: everything works as promised
First of all, I tested my home Internet. Logical, because this is part of the connection procedure.
iPhones catch an average of 450 Mbit/s per download across the room from the router. There is nowhere to go further, and if you stand closer, the speed almost does not rise higher.
The iMac in the other room easily carries all 500-plus Mbps through its built-in Wi-Fi module. The 16-inch MacBook produces about 450 Mbps.
The 2021 iPad Pro reaches 500 Mbit/s everywhere in the apartment, and once again I am amazed at the power of its Wi-Fi. Ping is minimal, a few m/s.
Regarding cellular communications, I’m unlikely to say anything new: for two years in a row, experts have recognized MegaFon as the fastest operator in Russia. There are both 100 and 150 Mbps on the iPhone 11 Pro Max. I am satisfied with the speed of the mobile Internet, as well as the connection.

I checked TV last, since I don’t watch it myself, it’s more for my wife and son. The picture quality is good, the console itself works with slight brakes in the menu, but it doesn’t hurt your nerves. The main thing is that you can now watch programs that were broadcast a few hours ago. And there are so many channels that at some point I got tired of flipping through them.
Everything works so stably that, in general, I don’t even have anything to write about here. They delivered as much as they promised in terms of speed. And that same 50% discount was activated, as promised on the site.
This is definitely the best 650 rubles I spent in 2020.
Operation of the MTS Minibit service and terms of provision
The option can be installed by subscriber numbers of all MTS users throughout the Russian Federation. Launching actions and options MiniBit is activated on traffic at the access point internet.mts.ru , wap.mts.ru (APN). The daily traffic quota is calculated by kilobytes.
Money for the service is debited from the balance only after accessing the global Internet. After using the entire amount of traffic per day, the user will not be able to access the Internet until the end of the day. The number of unspent megabytes will be canceled the next day.
If it is extremely important for a user to access the Internet, but the network coverage is weak and the access speed is low, he can use the Turbo button . It removes speed limits. In order for the service to be provided, you will have to pay an additional fee.
For reserve 100 Megabytes, an MTS subscriber will spend 30 rubles for 24 hours. To connect, you need to dial the code request from your mobile device: *111*05# , or send an SMS message to number 5340 with the text “05” . The function is disabled automatically.
Unite! Hit
There is more of everything here than in the previous one, and there is also TV. Home Internet is pumped up to 300 Mbit/sec (the router is still paid). And there are already 1300 minutes in the mobile tariff.
The TV package here is extended: 188 channels, a large selection. Renting a TV set-top box is now free. You can watch through a browser or from a smartphone.
This is almost the maximum possible, while the mobile tariff is at the level of the most expensive options in Russia. But you have to pay very little per month.
