Beeline apologized to the FAS, but does not intend to change tariffs
Over the course of a couple of decades, Russians have become accustomed to the “little tariff tricks” with which mobile operators respond to legislators’ initiatives. One of these “tricks” is the “connection fee”, thanks to which the connection is not formally charged (0 rubles/min), but the subscriber still has to pay for the call. This is precisely the technique that Beeline applied to incoming calls outside the home region, which became free at the insistence of the FAS Russia. The operator now adds 5 rubles “per connection” to each of them. Moreover, in response to requests from subscribers, the operator’s call center has repeatedly stated that such a tariff is not free incoming calls, but an additional 5 rubles for an incoming call “in the former roaming,” as agreed by the FAS. This caused justifiable indignation among the regulator and became the reason for initiating an antimonopoly case against VimpelCom PJSC.
Beeline: a reluctant anti-leader?
The work of a large telecom operator is complex and multifaceted, so sometimes there are overlaps. Moreover, sometimes business processes “fail” in several directions at once.
