Popular mobile phone operators advertise unlimited phone calls and even call their plans “unlimited.” Upon closer examination, it turns out that the unlimited tariff implies unlimited calls only to numbers of the same operator, albeit throughout Russia. And only a few companies are ready to offer, if not unlimited calls within Russia and the world, but at least a good package of minutes or a reduced rate for international calls.

IP telephony, when connected to a PBX, allows all participants connected to it to make free calls, no matter what country they are in. Below we will look at the tariffs of five popular operators that are at least vaguely similar to unlimited, and find out whether only IP telephony provides unlimited service in Russia, or whether mobile operators can satisfy the private and work needs of subscribers.

Some of them offer free use of social networks and instant messengers - Vkontakte, Instagram, WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram and others. Tariffs for individuals allow you to use video traffic from Wink completely free of charge (up to 20 channels).

As we can see, the word “unlimited” in the tariff conditions applies only to certain functions, but does not allow you to call any numbers within Russia and not worry about the number of minutes spent. The cost of the company's services is low (from 300 to 800 rubles), but calls to other cities and countries are carried out at separate roaming rates.

Beeline

Beeline has a good tariff for home use “All for 1800 + roaming”. It includes unlimited calls throughout Russia to operator numbers, Internet at home in international roaming in countries most popular with tourists, as well as the ability to connect 5 numbers with which you can communicate for free by any means - via SMS, over the Internet or calls.

However, there are also no completely unlimited possibilities on this tariff - with it you do not get an unlimited number within Russia. For 1,800 rubles, the client is given 3,000 minutes, which are spent on calls within the network, to numbers of other operators, landline numbers and calls to the regions. When the package ends, per-minute billing comes into play. Calls to Beeline in your city are still free, and the rest are paid according to the tariff.

The Internet is also limited - the tariff includes only 15GB of traffic. In most countries it is consumed in the same way as at home (the list of countries in Zone No. 1 can be found on the website). If the number is registered in the network of another operator, unlimited Internet is automatically connected for a fixed fee (for example, in Crimea). The first 300 MB at a comfortable speed, then at 128 Kbps. Instead of unlimited Internet, you can choose the option “100MB in Crimea and the networks of other operators” or per-megabyte pricing.

For business, Beeline offers tariffs from 250 to 2000 rubles per month. The maximum tariff already includes a virtual PBX, but the number of minutes is also limited - 5000.

MTS

MTS offers an example of the “Guest” tariff. It is convenient for subscribers who need to frequently make calls to the CIS countries and Asia, as well as contact other cities in Russia. There is no subscription fee, and the cost of calls starts from 1.1 rubles per minute.

The tariff does not offer unlimited calls, but it does offer low prices for calls to other countries. A minute of calls with Armenia is 3.2 rubles (up to 30 minutes a day, then more), with Tajikistan 7.3 rubles, with China, Hong Kong, Macau 3.2 rubles. Calls to countries not included in the list with special conditions will cost 75 rubles per minute.

For the opportunity to make cheap calls to other countries, you have to pay high rates for domestic calls. Only calls to subscribers with the same tariff in their home region will be free and unlimited. For mobile numbers with other tariffs in the home region, the price of a call will be 2.1 rubles and 5.2 rubles for MTS and other operators.

In corporate tariffs, a maximum of 5,000 minutes are available for 1,500 rubles per month.

Tariffs with unlimited calls to MTS

Almost all MTS contracts boast free on-net calls. These include: “My Unlimited”, all tariffs of the “Smart”, “Super MTS”, “Ultra” line. Not included in this category are “Red Energy”, “Per-Second” and specialized offers for special devices and cases.

In addition, subscribers who own such plans can take advantage of free packages of minutes to communicate with clients of other mobile operators.

Megaphone

Megafon has a “Maximum” tariff with an unlimited option - it allows you to spend mobile Internet without restrictions. A number of applications do not waste Internet traffic, for example, WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram and others. Internet distribution via USB or Wi-Fi is free.

The tariff provides for a subscription fee of 650 rubles every 30 days. For it, in addition to unlimited Internet, the client receives a package of 800 minutes and 300 SMS messages. The specified minutes can be spent on calls in your region or communication with other regions (including landline numbers). This saves budget for subscribers with long-distance calling needs.

The tariff allows you to call Megafon numbers unlimitedly - the minutes from the package remain in place. And one more plus - unspent minutes are accumulated, they can be used next month when 800 minutes are exhausted. You can accumulate up to 3000 minutes.

International calls are charged per minute. You can call the CIS countries, Ukraine, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Georgia for 39 rubles, Europe for 59, and other countries for 79 rubles.

The tariff has a couple more unlimited functions - “MegaFon Protection” from unwanted subscriptions and “MegaFon TV” for watching movies and TV series.

In the corporate segment, Megafon has an Executive tariff available - 5,000 minutes for 1,600 rubles per month.

Tele 2

Tele 2 offers many tariffs, some of which have free features. Tariffs “Everywhere Online”, “Everywhere Online+”, “My Online”, “My Online+”, “My Conversation”, “Game”, “Premium” offer free calls within Russia for Tele 2 subscribers. A package is issued for other numbers minutes, its size depends on the cost of the tariff plan. The package contains 200 – 2000 minutes, after which the per-minute billing is activated.

Each tariff includes a mobile Internet package of several tens of gigabytes, after which you can purchase more traffic. Some instant messengers and social networks do not consume traffic at the listed rates. “Everywhere online +” allows you to watch YouTube unlimited.

Since we are interested in unlimited calls within Russia and the world in this article, let’s pay attention to the “Premium” tariff. The subscription fee here is 1800 rubles. The package includes 2000 minutes, unlimited Internet and free calls within the Tele 2 network, which do not consume the 2000 minutes of the package. The tariff allows you to call not only within the country, but also abroad, without spending additional money (this applies to 6 European countries). Mobile Internet in most countries (the list can be checked on the website) is used in the same way as in your home region.

The company also has a tariff called “Unlimited”. In fact, it is formed according to the same scheme as the others - free calls to Tele2 throughout the country, 500 minutes in the package and unlimited Internet traffic (including trips abroad). Calls to other countries on this tariff are as expensive as the rest - 35 rubles per minute for the CIS, 55 to the Baltics and Europe and 75 rubles to other countries.

The My Business XL tariff is available for business - 5000 minutes for 1300 rubles per month.

Wi-Fi connections without app

The next service that will allow you not to pay for calls is Wi-Fi Calling. You can use it anywhere where wi-fi is available.

Usage algorithm:

1. Connect the option using the ussd combination *111*6#, through your Personal Account on the website or in the mobile application.
2. Activate the Wi-Fi Calling service in your device settings.
3. Connect to an access point.
4. Check the activity of the service icon.
5. Make a call in the usual way.

Calls via IP telephony

The easiest way to organize unlimited and profitable communications in a company is to create a unified corporate telephone network based on an office automatic telephone exchange (PBX).

Based on the review of operators above, unlimited calls within Russia via IP telephony may be more realistic than unlimited calls through mobile operators. Unlimited calls to mobile phones via SIP protocols are not charged if all subscribers are connected to the same PBX.
